Ok, so I had been playing ricky (patched up and with hotfixes) on windows vista for some time with no issues, but recently whenever I try to play the game it just freezes at the initiallising sound stage.
As I said, I had been playing it happily for some time so I doubt that it is an issue with the engine (I can still play CK DV fine).
I had already renamed the avi file to stop issues with the opening movie, so I figured that I could try renaming the music and sfx files. Renaming the music file did nothing, but renaming the sfx file allowed me to proceed to the main menu; however, when I then click on singleplayer the game CTDs.
I have checked the stickies and elsewhere on the forum, but to no avail. I guess the problem may lie with the sfx, but I have no idea how to solve this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
edit: I should note that I've already tried a full reinstall and that didn't resolve the issue.
