I try to install my downloaded version of CK but I kept receiveing a message that it'd install Victoria, which I also bought in the downloaded format.

I tried the following:

1) uninstalled my copy of Vic, and tried to reinstall CK;
2) cleaned the registry, and tried to reinstall CK;
3) deleted all files in my temp directory, and tried to reinstall CK;
4) downloaded a new copy of CK form the GamesGate Downloader, and tried to reinstall it;
5) reinstalled my copy of Victoria, and tried to reinstall CK;

Anyway I still received a message that if I'd continue I'd install Victoria instead of CK, and when the game started I got an error message of "unknown string wanted"

To solve this problem I changed the language in the control panel of the Windows from portuguese to english. AND IT WORKED!!!!!! :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Yup that is a known issue.
Your Language settings must be set to English.

Hey, thanks a lot! Your thread solved my problem! =)

good :)

Here is what I did:

1) Installed CK allthough the machine called it Victoria
2) Went to the registry and renamed Paradox Entertainment/Victoria to Paradox Entertainment/Crusader Kings
3) Was now finally able to patch the game (1.05)
4) Went to the registry and changed the language key of Crusader Kings to English

BUT STILL I RECEIVE THE "UNKNOWN STRING" ERROR

HELP

Crimson, look in this thread. Do what Havard said.
Option to change the language of your Windows should be in Control Panel - Regional and Language Options.

I've never tried to change the language myself, but maybe this can help?
