Install problems: any help appreciated

Downloaded Rome from Gamersgate, then updated to v1.3.

Although I didn't play a game, it seemed to load and run fine when I tested it.

Downloaded Vae Victus from Gamersgate, then updated to v2.1.

Cannot load due to "Side by side configuration error"

Running Vista ultimate.

Any help/advice is wellcome.

Sorry if it's in a different thread, but I have searched and cannot locate a similar problem.
