Hi,

I upgraded my OS to Windows XP and wanted to install EU II again.

The installation starts but halfway through the progress bar I get below error message:

---
Europa Universalis 2

An installation support file
'C:\DOCUME~1\JAKOBP~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\{CA5DD6E1-....}\setup.inx

could not be installed.

Incorrect function
---

Thankful for help

There should be a fixed file for this, on the website of the publisher of your EU2 version.

Who is the publisher of your version?
Do you have ADMIN ability for the user who is logged in while installing the game?

Hi,

* Yes I have ADMIN account
* Using the Nordic version

I finally got it to install by using a networked CD-ROM drive on my Server. The installation worked fine. Then, before I could play the game, I had to switch the CD back to my laptop. There it run fine and the game started. Seems it only had a problem with running the setup file from the CD on my laptop...but not on the server.

Very Strange.

Probably a Copy protection issue.
Glad you got it to work.

still crashing

:confused: I got the same problem as sea_hawk but unfortunately mine doesn't go away setup.inx
followed by :could not be installed
incorrect function
comes up every time I try to install. The version I have is the scandinavian as well. XP professional user

-by the way I got it to work before, forgot how I did it though!

From the self help guide:

Scandinavian EU2 installation problem (setup.inx)

This is a compatibility issue with some CD readers and the copy protection.

You can download a working file here:
http://www.paradoxplaza.com/files/patches/setup_inx.zip

Try to copy the whole installation to the hd and install from there. Put the downloaded setup.inx in the same folder and off you go. I just tested it and it works like a charm.

Don't copy the *.vpp files though

If you choose to make a custom installation and play music from the CD you will have to edit the music.ini file after installation. Just change as follows:

####My installation####

[Common]
music=c:\Program Files\Europa Universalis 2\MUSIC

####Change to####

[Common]
music=X:\MUSIC

Where X is the drive letter for your CD rom drive. After that you can delete all the installation files you copied manually from the CD.

The Danish version...had the reputation to be extremely crashy because of the translation. There is a file called text.csv that contains all texts in the game. In this file, some mistakes were done wich leads to CTDs.

Your best bet is to apply the 1.10 patch and then apply this patch:
http://www.paradoxplaza.com/files/EU-English.exe (which will fix it but) your game will be in English though
