He says he's already at XP. Sounds like he needs some foreign language support files activated or loaded.

Same Prob, on the Win 98 SE

Thanks for reples, I wanna solve this problem, Because I am greatest fan of WWII.

Anyway, I havenot English version Windows. I did it Win 98 SE (Korean Edition), But same problem again.

I am a MS certified tech, but Ive never seen the Korean version of XP, the US version does have chinese, japanese, russian, and korean languages available for download (among others...), so I would assume that various european languages should be available for your version.

Try visiting the Windows Update site and see if you have any language packs available to download. That should fix it, if they exist. Try downloading them and see what happens. Good luck :)

try this:
Control Panel, Regional and Language options, Languages:

in my Win XP, I get a little box to check if I want to use East Asian Languages anc complex script languages. Assuming Korean is one of these (duh! :D ) I imagine they could have an option to support Western European Characters like accents é à û , etc.

You can also change "Text services and input languages" by clicking details and then add and then select as "input language" French Canada and as keyboard "US".

Windows should automatically download whatever language pack(s) you need.

Mmmm... HOI makes me sad. T.T

Try contacting the publisher to see if they have a work around. The links can be found in the sticky thread titled "support options" If you find anything out please report back here and share the info. thanks.

I have ran into this problem before testing other applications on a chinese version of Windows. At the time I wasn't able to come up with a better solution than to change the character that wasn't translating correctly. On Monday or Tuesday I will have access to a version of chinese Windows, and I can look into this a bit more. This problem may be caused by the file format of your hard drive. I know Microsoft did improve the foreign language support when they switched to the NTFS file system. If your hard drive isn't formatted as NTFS you could try creating an NFTS partition and installing it there. It is also possible this comes from a bug in the installation software, but I seem to remember seeing the same problem using Installshield. Again I will try to run some tests on Monday or Tuesday and let you know if I can find a fix for this.

Here is an explanation of why this is happening (warning this may get a bit technical).

The character that is getting mangled is an extended ascii character. This causes problems when translating into some foreign languages such as korean, chinese, japanese or arabic. Character codes beyond certain value (127) are reserved in these languages. The first value is combined with the next character in the sequence to create a single new character. This allows the operating system to create a signifigantly larger number of characters. In this case it is trying to translate the extended character and the space into a single korean or chinese character and is not able to find a suitable match so it is replacing it with a question mark.

Ok, i want a special name for this..ive certs been on the forums long enough..even if i am a lurker..anyway, here is what u do, ez fix..go into your control panel, under regional and language options, go to the advanced tab, make sure you have a couple french languages clicked in under "Code page conversion tables"
If this dosn't work you could also go as far as to change your non-unicode to French Canada..should work fine.,although of course i can't test it on foreign windows..

for this problem plz install it under Japanese regional support. I duno why japanese support but other languages dont. so change ur regional into japanese and install it from there.

PS: some people who live in state use other language window like me. i been using chinese windows for the past 6 years in state.

Still It's not

I check all of my Code Page Trasrations, Unicode to French Canadians. But Still It's not.

Thanks for ur kindness.

Grrr... Japenese Language Pack, It's not works, too. Sorry Cchan.

I give up on this stuff. I'll give it away. huh.
