When running the Setup.exe file I recieve an error while the installshield starts.

The error message reads:

"An installation support file could not be installed."
"Unexpected failure."

I run both Windows 98 and WindowsXP on my computer though this problem occurs on both operating systems. Also...the autoplay function seems to cause an error as well and crashes...I executed the setup.exe directly instead. Very strange goings on...I've never seen an error quite like it, and would be happy to get any advice on how to resolve the issue (Very excited to get my copy in the mail today).

If you copy the entire CD to the HD and run the install program from there does that work?

Strangely I couldn't manage to copy any of it onto my HD either...it gave me an I/O error under both OS types. I haven't had this problem with other Paradox games, but this is the only time I've bought one published under a different company than Strategy First. Some kind of odd incompatibility with my CD drive?

I managed to install it, however, by using my work laptop and some network rigging so it's all working out fine now, and enjoying the game.

Some Cd drives and a lot of old DVD drives have problems with both Install Shield program and Copy protection issues.

Glad you found a work around, I know there is an Install shield work around program from the publisher of the install shield program.

I had the same problem, and solved it the same way.

Glad you can finally enjoy this fine release =)

It is a problem lots of games have because everyone uses install shield.

Let's deal with your problem in the thread you opened.
