I downloaded the file (CORE2_v01.msi). I "installed" it by right-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer and clicking on install. I directed the installer to my HOI2 folder (it's not the default folder). The installer ran and put files on my harddrive and put a shortcut on my desktop. When I click on the shortcut all I get is this message:

The drive or network connection that the shortcut 'CORE2 Ver 1.10.lnk' refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again.

What do I need to do differently to install CORE2 so that the program runs correctly?

Most likely the path in the shortcut point to the wrong location, you need to change the path in the shortcut if you don't have hoi2 installed at the default location (C:\program files\ etc.."). At least that's what I had to do to get the shortcut to work properly.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I found also. It looks like entering the path to your HOI2 files in the installation procedure just tells the CORE2 installer where to put its files. But doesn't change the paths in the shortcut from the default path.

You most likely installed CORE in a different folder than the default folder for HoI2. Change the path for the shortcut to match the path where you installed HoI2. MDow

I've got another problem.

I've changed the paths according to the posts above.

For some reasons, I do not see any scenario and then cannot play.

The path in my icons are : "C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron 2 CORE\HoI2.exe" mod-core2" (i've added an " at the end)

The game loads, and seems to be fine (mod-core written top left of the menu page) but there is no scenario.

Where am I wrong ?

Thanks for your work :)

copy the files and folders from mod-core2 into your Hearts of Iron 2 folder and click yes to overwrite all. Start a normal campaign, and here it is. Just note that you will overwrite vanilla HoI2.
I made a copy of my HoI2 folder prior to CORE install, so I can play both.

The installer maybe should be programmed to point the created short-cut to the user-defined install-location, and not the pre-defined one.

Remove the one you added at the end and it should work. You may want to make sure you actually have a folder called mod-core2 in the HoI2 root folder. This folder name has to be named exactly as the tail-end of the shortcut is (maybe even Case-Sensitive). If it says mod-core in the game, it may be that the shortcut lacks the number 2?

Let us know how it works out for you!

And thank you for your interest!
