installation problem please help!!!!!

hi all,

Today I bought EU2, and i installed the game. when i tried to play the game all i get is a black blank screen, assuming that it just might be loading i waited, however after ten minutes of waiting, i am for sure there is a problem with he game. I have tried doing this about four times until i decided to give up. i then decided to uninstall the game and then realised that only 4.46mb was installed. what the hell? what happened to the other 145mb that was supposed to be installed. can someone please explain what it could be that is going wrong with my game has anyone else come accross this problem? also just to let you know i am using windows XP. please help me, as i would like to play this game as this game sounds very interesting. anyway, i am going to wait around for two days to see if anyone can come up with an answer, if i don't get a solution i am sending this game back to the shop.

Rename the avi directory to something like "avi_old" under your Europa Universalis 2 directory so that the intro doesn't run. If there is still a problem, come back to this thread again and tell people.

hehe..yeah i was reading through the forums and found a very old post that gave instructions on doing that. Anyway, it is now working. Also, thanks for responding.

Just about every thread in the support forum, lists that as the first thing to try.

You didn't mention applying any patches ... make sure you get and apply the right version of 1.07 for your publisher.

Always good advice, however if you are going to go with 1.07, then I would grab the betas as well.
