Installation trouble

I am trying to install HOI2

On a Compaq Presario running Winxp Build 2600

It is an AMD 3500+ processor running at 2ghz

Memory 512mb of Ram


1.92G free on my HDD

ATI Radeon200 video card

DirectX 9.0c

It is a stock package computer. No frills or extras.


I tried to install the game and the installer program freezes. Does the old Not Responding thing. I attempted several times, restarting the computer between each attempt. 1 time, for no explainable reason that I can think of, it did progress to the installation, but froze again at 52%.

I am baffled and confused, but I know the whizzes can help me out.

Maybe your CD is scratched? Try to copy the whole CD on your hard drive and install it from there.

Hint from jpd:

Have you tried cleaning it? If not, use a soft cloth, and gently brush from the center hole towards the edges of the CD. Do not use cleaning fluids, or apply a lot of presure, as this can damage the surface of the CD. Avoid circular motions while cleaning the surface.
