You say you tried running the install, you did not say what happened when you did?
Always recommended to wipe the game from your system and do a fresh install.

I think there is a instruction somewhere in this forum on a manual total removal... can't remember where I saw it just now. Maybe someone else can... or try a search.

If he lost his CD as he says though he does not want to do that since he would not be able to reinstall.
