Have had no problems with CtD (while playing) 1.03(NA) - but after playing the Golden Hoard to 1686, I saved and quit because it was getting late (well, actually early ). Unfortunately when I returned to load the game today, the program CtDed when I clicked on the save game name in the single-player screen. The same happened with the Autosave, and also with the Old-Autosave. I tried to start a new game and load within the game and got a CtD both when starting as the Golden Hoard and when starting as Poland (which still existed). I figure something must be broken in the "Header" part of the file, as the CtD on the single player screen happened before the shields appeared at the top of the screen.

I have another saved file from Malacca, which I have no problem loading, so the other 3 Golden Hoard savefiles must be corruped somehow - but how *all three*?
If wanted, I have the save files stored away and can e-mail them.

I have a fix for your saved games. Open them in any text editor, and look at the line on the first page that says Selectable= . You will see a long list of country tags, with many duplicates. I'm sure the duplicates are causing the crash.

Initially I edited out just the duplicates, painful and slow, but it worked. But by experiment I found that you can delete them all except one and the save game still loads fine. The one I left was my own country NIP (Japan), so that is probably the best choice. I suspect you can leave any one there but I don't have time to try that right now.

If anyone is interested I wrote a save game fix application that automatically fixes the "selectable" fields in all your saved games. All you need to do is copy the application to your saved games directory and run it with your country's abbreviation as the command line option.
e.g.
for Byzantium type:
savefix BYZ
I tried it on all my saved games and it works.
Of course, back up your files before using it.
You can get it
here.
