i have to say i'm quite impressed with sengoku's AI, especially in overall strategy planning. i started a game as nanbu in 1467 and was thinking to conquer small neighbors once the big ones get into wars with someone else, and for 10 years nothing happened. when my patience finally ran out and DOWed the dude on my west, the next day EVERYBODY DOWed everyone else (kasai, osaki, mogami to name a few) looks like AI really knows how to take advantage of the war situation now!

and does anyone know how exchange hostage works? or plots for that matter? i can never initiate any of these on my own. do i need better relations or what?

You exchange hostages (important clan sons) with a clan that you want to have no war with for a certain amount of time. In practice you propose a hostage exchange with a big neighbouring clan and attack a smaller neighbour so that you secure your back for the time war is raging. If the AI will accept your proposal depends on what disposition they have towards you - if you are their next war goal then they won't accept such a deal. ;)

i see, i did make one exchange with uesugi with success, but most of time AI proposes it to me. what about plots then? i started one and got the ratio up to 1.05 or something, then when i DOWed uesugi EVERYBODY left the plot:blink:

I'm not that savy about the game and don't have time at the moment to lay it down for you - what I can suggest though is that you look at the many such threads available at this forum and help yourself out. :D
