Hi,

how much does interdiction slow down enemy land units? Also, does it count with the time for which the unit is being bombed? I mean, is there a difference in resulting enemy speed when I bomb them several times a day in separate bombing encounters or is one interdiction attack a day enough for maximum speed penalty?

I have been using this in multiplayer to slow down and then destroy enemy land units but now I am in a situation where I would appreciate more exact calculations.

Furthermore, do low infra (destroyed by log strike) or ground attack also have an effect on speed?

As I know, interdiction does not affect land speed.
But logistical strike does, because land speed depends on infrastructure.
Low infra also decrease unit efficiency.

Interdiction does slow units down, but it affects your units most. Interdiction drops org. which helps determine the speed of a unit. That said, the AI's units will gain / regain org when they move, whereas yours won't.

IWO JIMA is absolutely right though, Log strike will also slow units down, and against the AI, is probably a better tactic. Of course, if the enemy is moving, they are easy meat for ground attack and if your air doctrines and tech is reasonably advanced, you can simply remove that unit from the battlefield entirely.

It is a multiplayer game. I need to destroy divs quickly because I am going to run out of oil soon. It is Jan 42 and I captured Leningrad and Moscow. The SU player has been retreating so far, primarily by redeploying his units futher deep into his territory. I cannot supply my 130 MOT and 90 ARM for long :-(

Airforce should do the trick I hope.

Make your airforce bomb ennemy units every 4 hours. (or 6 can't remember). That requires a lot of micromanagement. Only 1 CAS/TAC/FTR per bombing is enough.

The bombardement N1 starts at 9.00.
The bombardement N1 ends at 12.00
The bombardement N2 should start at 12.00 or 13.00.

If you do that during many days, that's going to be fine.

Also, when you bomb a unit/, the unit is slowed down by roughly 50pc i think

I tried to follow such bombing schedule to make sure that target divs are almost continually bombed. It works good in terms of slowing them down and thus destroying tens of retreating divs. It was an interesting game because I truly realized that the depth of SU territory is really a killer for the Wehrmacht with 66/33 mobile units/foot inf ratio. The terrible TC burden would not be much of a problem if I could actually use the numerous mobile forces to encircle and destroy much of the Red Army in 41 (which happened in the previous game). But the SU player learned from it, chose hit and run strategy and redeployed 400 units in front of Sverdlovsk...

Sadly, I am still not sure about precise speed penalty values. I basically tried to attack a small province and then pursue units which retreated to a big province. With constant interdiction I was able to be there first.

If you have the aircraft something you could try would be to logistical bomb provinces where the enemy troops are stationed, to destroy the infra there, and hinder the movement speed of all the units in those provinces. Then move your own troops around them through the provinces that still have good infra. Destroying infrastructure also gives you more time to do ground attacks with your airforce if the enemy troops start moving away from there.

Log strike is of course useful but the problem is that in HoI2 you cannot choose which province is getting bombed while interdiction and ground attack prioritize retreating units so they can be used as a part of a planned destruction of enemy units.
