hello, I'm her to gauge interest in a new game based on the X COM franchise. This game will mostly take inspiration from the 2012 reboot for simplicity sake, but still aim to capture the feel of X COM.

The main game will focus on the tactical level of XCOM, but will still have the aspects of the strategic layer on top, so while many players will take on roles as soldiers, if you want you may take on the role of Central, Chief Scientist or Chief Engineer.

Also if you worried about not having enough time for the game, as each mission only needs 4-6 players you can simply opt out of mission you are to busy to partake in it and simply come back later when you have the time.

Brief description of each role:

Soldier: takes part in tactical missions

Chief Scientist: gets to make the decision on what to research

Chief Engineer: gets to make the decision on what to build

Central: gets to pick the soldiers who go on missions and which missions to respond too

NOTE: although you get to make the final decision as engineer/scientist/central it would still be wise to consult with the other players

if you would like to know anything else about the game, feel free to ask :)

[note this is not an IAAR of a xcom game, but a forum game based on it]

welcome aboard

I would enjoy being chief engineer

I'd love to be Central, if you don't mind.

no worries. :)

now we need some people willing to die

i mean fight for earth

Nice idea and wish you luck man. If you don’t mind I have a few tips for the creation process.

1.If your going to be rolling stats and don’t have your own dice like me I’d recommend this browser
Dungeons & Dragons Dice Roller. It should give you plenty of dice type to play with.

2.The rest is on mechanics because I like to focus on those in my games. So big tip make them simple for both the players to understand and for you to manage. For instance my biggest issue in my first game - Landfallen - was juggling stats for people. Landfallen 2 isn’t much better but I forced myself to learn spreadsheets to make it more efficient.

3.Final tip of the day is a common sense thing but still important enough to be said. Don’t make anything that you wouldn’t want to play. Adding on to that do a few practice turns with the stats you made, it’ll really polish your mechanics.

thanks for the advice iis :)

hmm.... I'd like to be the chief scientist and research stuff for people. Also relating to that really curious about the research system you'll have.

quick question, do people prefer the base game or with the added features from Enemy Within like mecs and exalt?

I vote for base game but I also have never played Xcom so...not the best authority on the matter >_>

Interested, but I'm not sure which position I'll want the most.

Enemy Within version, although I have not played thee base game, only with the expansion. What are the differences?

within adds gene mods/mecs/seekers + mechtoids as well as exalt of the top of my head

I'd say Enemy Within

you can be dutch, but no guarantees on being epic :p
