This is only a thread to check for interest. I was thinking of making a WiR/AQoP/MGaSO/Napoleon's Legacy type game, but instead of having it across the world, I would have it in one continent in the modern era. In this case, it would be Africa.

Basic Info:

The idea of this game would be that each player will sign up for one nation, with a total of about 20 players. The deal here is that any continental (no islands) country will be up for grabs, so players will get to select any nation from the Sahara to the Cape. Of course this game will be set in the modern era and year of 2014, and the game will progress across the future.

Countries will be ranked according to how much power they posses in the World. Nations like South Africa would be near the top, while nations like Somalia will be ranked at the bottom. It will be a "First Come First Serve" bases for selection of nations. If more then one player wants a nation, I will decide base on experience which player will get to play the nation.

Orders and Rolls:

This is a must for most nation simulator games. Players will send in orders to me, or any GM that is willing to also play. We will roll for your order, and then you will receive an event on whether that order succeeds or fails.

I also plan on having an IRC channel for people to join.

So what do you guys think? Would you be interested?

FINALLY AN AFRICAN GAME!
I would love it if you could reserve Morocco for me, also adding more spots would be nice.

I'd be very interested in this, although we would need a capable modding team. I would also perhaps prefer a slightly older setting, such as in the midst of the Cold War, which would allow for far more intrigue, bloodshed and dictatorial governments.

I disagree, an African scenario set on 2014 would be very interesting and would allow more flexibility and options to the players, however, a scenario set in the Cold War would also be interesting

What exactly can the players do?

The idea is that most African Countries are crap as of today. The player's job will be to get these nations in a much better state then they are now. So you can improve infrastructure, industry, maybe get rid of crime and corruption, make treaties with other nations, declare war, etc. Just as long as it is reasonable, so no "Create Black Hole Generator" else I will make it fail and make it fail badly.

I was honestly thinking that pre-colonial Africa would be more interesting, maximizing trade efficiency with Europe, securing the best fire-arms. The ultimate challenge would be to stand alone against a European power. Historically, only Ethiopia ever really succeeded, and they lost the rematch right before WW2. To me, that is more interesting, but meh, I may get involved.

Assuming I get involved, how would foreign relations (such as with EU and US) affect the nations we chose? Would there be serious foreign relations penalties for playing as Somalia, for instance?

EDIT: Screw it, try and keep Egypt open for me.

Eh vaguely interested, specifically in Nigeria.

What stats will there be and how do they get influenced?

Seems interesting. I might join. Tunisia would be my pick

Vaguely interesting. If we had a capable team for stats and updates, I'd definitely be up for it.

I would join this, but my knowledge of modern African nations is limited to Angola.

It may turn out that I don't have the time, but I'm tentatively interested. I imagine I'd go for somewhere I could have endless fun – like Zimbabwe.

Madagascar is calling!

Its also not just the nations up for play. I have decided to allow certain rebel groups to be played (Since you cant have Africa without militants). Some of these groups include:

M23- The most famous Democratic Republic of Congo Militia, operating in the Eastern city of Goma.

Al-Shabaab- Somalian/Kenyan Islamic Terrorist group operating in southern Somalia.

Lords Resistance Army- Joseph Kony's group, currently operating in Central Africa/ South Sudan, with past activities in multiple African Nations.

Boko Haram- Famous Islamic Group operating in Nigeria.

This will present an interesting challenge for the nations in which these rebel groups operate in. The rebels will try to overthrow the current government and instate their own ideas, the government will try to stop them, or they could work together and create dual government like governments.

Given the policies of some groups, id be incredibly careful with that.

Yeah, that seems like a great way to end up on a watchlist.

I'm vaguely interested. Tell me, do we still interact with outside nations, or are we limited to Africa?

True True.

I need some GMs, and a map-maker, any volunteers? (Must have experience.)

I am not sure about that, most likely it will be just Africa.

BTW IRC is #Continental on Coldfront.
