Name: Gaj Bieniek
Position: High Councillor of the Terran Federation
Age: 56
Bio: Born into an influential family on Terra, Gaj was a man of Polish descent. (despite the country loosing sovereignty after the war of unification and then ceasing to be special administration zone after the Civil war) Consistently proud of his heritage and family history, he led a fairly ordinary life for an upper class citizen of Terra, spending his early years in school, eventually graduating top of is year. After his schooling his family decided to send him to the Charon Military School, at the time the Unions most prestigious academy for upcoming military minds. Normally only available to those whose families directly presided over the council Gaj's attendance drew him much attention from the upper rulers of the Union.
During his three year education the young pole would establish himself as one of the foremost military minds of his generation, setting the schools record for best performance in all its Military simulations. As such after his graduation, he was quickly requisitioned by the Union fleet and rose through the ranks fast, eventually becoming the Admiral of the 4th Union fleet. His strong armed form of leadership and considerable lack of charismatic charm earned him little friendship among the non-commissioned members of his crew. However his fame spread quickly within the shadowy halls of the Council and by the beginning of the Collectives emergence he was regularly turning down requests to join the organisations ranks or accept the position of Admiral of the Fleet, the highest in the Navy.
Due to his history of and accolades Gaj was elected to lead the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Union fleets into battle against the Collective at their emergence in the South. In this instance however fate conspired against him, forcing him to bed with a serious liver infection, eventually requiring a transplant, leaving him unable to command. Thus he was not present to command the fleet which was destroyed in the various engagements of the war, such as the first battle of Calamar. At the outbreak of the Civil war he was given command of the 4th and 5th Union fleets which formed the core of the 5 Union fleets that stayed loyal to the Council (out of 15 - including the 3 destroyed against the collective) Soon he was the most feared of the Union's commanders after perfecting his preferred tactics of convoy raiding and hit and run skirmishes which constantly whittled down the rebel fleets. At the Battle of Alpha Centuri however Gaj was finally forced into a straight fight, in an attempt to aid the embattled 8th, 12th and 13th Union fleets. However this would be his most odd moment, at his arrival on the battlefield he immediately switched sides catching the Union fleets unaware and shattering them. The battle which claimed all of the Unions remaining fleets would lead to the capitulation of the Council and the sacking of Terra, in which Gaj would escape the purge of all council members and those close to them. His family however were not so lucky, all being sentenced to death and shot.
Five years later Gaj had successfully outmaneuvered all other political opponents on Terra to firmly secure his self established position as the new Grand Councillor of the Terran Federation, a form of government that invokes the old union to some, despite being nowhere near as right wing. For now though his position is secure with nearly all of the Federation supporting his rule, seeing it as a symbol of their old power. Looking forward Gaj seeks to reestablish Terra as an important hub for humanity and increase its influence in the Galaxy, to the North he seeks to regain Epsilon Eridana, the capital of the Democratic Union of Epsilia, A system he views as stolen from the federation by Council meddling. Other than that, few can guess whether he is driven by personal desire or some other greater dream
