I noticed alot of people asking which characters were interesting to play and have compiled a list of characters from BEFORE the game of thrones books take place. I'll add more latter feel free to post more.

Iron King Harren the Black Harren Hoare, better known as Harren the Black or Black Harren, was last of the Iron Kings to rule over the Iron Islands and the Riverlands,
and the last member of House Hoare to rule. He completed the grand castle, Harrenhal, which would serve to be his doom. Available in = The bleeding years, War of Conquest
Triarch Horonno was one of the ruling triarchs of the Free City of Volantis during the Century of Blood. Available in = The bleeding year
Argilac Durrendon also known as Argilac the Arrogant, was the last Storm King who reigned in the Stormlands before the Conquest by Aegon I. Available in = The bleeding
years, War of Conquest
Aegon Targaryen the First of His Name, also known as Aegon the Conqueror and Aegon the Dragon, was the conqueror of the Seven Kingdoms and the founder of the ruling
Targaryen dynasty of Westeros. Available = The bleeding years,War of Conquest
Rhaenyra Targaryen cheered as the Realm's Delight when she was young and later called the Half-Year Queen, was the first-born child of King Viserys I Targaryen. Her claim to
the Iron Throne was challenged by her younger half-brother, Aegon II Targaryen, sparking the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. She was the mother of two kings, Aegon III
and Viserys II. Available = Dance of the Dragon
Daemon Blackfyre was the bastard son of Daena Targaryen and Aegon IV. Daemon swayed half the kingdom to support his claim to the Iron Throne against King Daeron II in a war
called the Blackfyre Rebellion. He was the first and greatest of the Blackfyre Pretenders. As a bastard, Daemon bore the arms of House Targaryen with the colours reversed: a black
three-headed dragon on a red field. Thus he became known as "the Black Dragon." Available in = Blackfyre Rebellion
Baelor Targaryen known as Baelor Breakspear, was the eldest son of King Daeron II Targaryen and Myriah Martell. He was named after King Baelor I. From 194 to 209, Prince Baelor
served as his father's Hand. Available= Blackfyre Rebellion
Daeron II known as Daeron the Good, was the twelfth Targaryen King of the Seven Kingdoms. His bastard half-brother challenged his rule and the result was a terrible civil war. The
war was mostly won by his sons and his other half-brother Bloodraven. Daeron died during the Great Spring Sickness in 209AL. Available= Blackfyre Rebellion
Dagon Greyjoy was the Lord of Pyke and the Iron Islands during the reign of King Aerys I Targaryen. He last sat in the Seastone Chair "almost a hundred years" before the events of
A Song of Ice and Fire. Available in= After the spring
Maekar I was ruler of the Seven Kingdoms and the fourteenth Targaryen to sit the Iron Throne. He was the fourth son of King Daeron II and was given the Targaryen seat of Summerhall.
Maekar was a capable army commander who served in the Blackfyre Rebellion. After a number of unexpected deaths in the royal family, he came to the throne in 221AL. He ruled until 233AL,
when he fell in battle against a rebel lord. Available in= After the spring
Aegon V was King of the Seven Kingdoms and the fifteenth Targaryen to sit the Iron Throne. In his youth he went by the nickname Egg and squired for Ser Duncan the Tall.
Aegon became king only after a Great Council that bypassed a number of candidates earlier in the line of succession, and after his elder brother, Aemon, refused the throne. As the fourth son
of Maekar I, himself a fourth son, Aegon was called "Aegon the Unlikely." Available in= War of the ninepenny kings
Prince Duncan Targaryen, also known as Prince Duncan the Small and the Prince of Dragonflies, was the first son of Aegon V Targaryen. Available in= War of the ninepenny kings
Duncan the Tall Dunk was a large man who grew up in Flea Bottom, became the squire of a hedge knight, became the companion of Aegon V Targaryen, and later served as Aegon's Lord
Commander of the Kingsguard under the name Ser Duncan the Tall. Nearly seven feet tall, Dunk had a humble personality and thought of himself as thick-headed. His early exploits are chronicled
in the "Dunk and Egg" stories of The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, The Mystery Knight. His personal arms were a green shooting star above an elm tree proper on sunset. Available in= War of the
ninepenny kings
Alequo Adarys, known as Goldentongue was a very wealthy merchant and a key member of the Band of Nine. Available in= War of the ninepenny kings
Damon the Red Lion House Reyne of Castamere was a noble house from Castamere in the Westerlands. It was once the richest and most powerful Westerland house after the Lannisters.
According to semi-canon sources they blazoned their arms with a red lion rampant regardant with a forked tail, armed and langued gold, on silver. Available in= War of the ninepenny kings
Maelys Blackfyre, better known as Maelys the Monstrous, was the last of the Blackfyre pretenders to the Iron Throne. Available in= War of the ninepenny kings
Orton Merryweather Your family lost most of its lands during the reign of the Mad King. You spent your youth in exile, where you married the beautiful foreigner Taena
of Myr. Now that you have been allowed to return, you have a chance to regain it all and more. You start as a count in the Reach with excellent stewardship and no duke above you. Orton's grandfather was the
Merryweather who served as the Mad King's ineffectual Hand. Count of Longtable in the ACOK and AFFC starts.
Bold Jon Roxton Another Reachman count, you start with excellent swordsmanship and martial skills, as well as a Valyrian Steel Sword. "Historically" you racked up an impressive
body count fighting for the Greens. As a non-dragonrider in a world full of dragons, how will you cope? Count of the Ring in the Dance of the Dragons start.
Stannis Baratheon was born the second son to Steffon Baratheon and Cassana Estermont, the younger brother of Robert Baratheon and the older brother of Renly Baratheon.
His parents died when he was thirteen. He lost his faith in the Seven on that day, vowing that gods who were cruel enough to take his father and mother in sight of their children would never have his worship
Prince Rhaegar Targaryen was a member of House Targaryen. Tall and handsome, beautiful, and exceedingly intelligent and excelled at anything he put his mind to. He was
considered to be a talented musician and skilled knight. While well-loved by the people He was the eldest son of King Aerys II Targaryen and, as heir-apparent, Prince of Dragonstone. Rhaegar was popular with the
smallfolk during his life, but he died in Robert's Rebellion which was triggered in part by his alleged abduction of Lyanna Stark. He was slain in single combat with Robert Baratheon at the ruby ford of the Trident.
Tywin Lannister is Lord of Casterly Rock, Shield of Lannisport and Warden of the West. House Lannister's reputation was low because of Tywin's weak father, Tytos. Tywin had to
take ruthless steps to rectify the situation restoring the family honor and fortune from its near ruin. Tywin took upon himself the task of putting down his two most unruly houses for their defiance. He did so with
ruthless efficiency, destroying both houses entirely so that their lines were ended, leaving their ruined and shattered castles as a mute testimony to the fate that awaits those who scorn the power of Casterly Rock.
Robert Baratheon is the King of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and the head of House Baratheon of King's Landing. Robert was crowned king after winning the War of the Usurper and
taking the crown from Aerys II Targaryen, his first cousin once removed. Robert fought the war to keep the hand of Lyanna Stark, with the aid of her brother, his close friend, Eddard Stark. Due to Lyanna's death,
however, Robert married Cersei Lannister to ensure political stability.
Balon Greyjoy is the head of House Greyjoy of Pyke and is the Lord of the Iron Islands. He is captain of the Great Kraken.[1] He is a follower of the Old Way of the ironborn and desires to
bring them back to prominence. In 289AL he proclaimed their independence from the Iron Throne but was defeated by King Robert Baratheon's forces. All his children were killed following his rebellion except Theon which
remained a ward to Ned Stark to ensure loyalty

For those interested in dragons, all the years before Dance of the Dragons can be considered to have plenty of dragons. After the Dance, dragons became very rare, and the last dragon died during the reign of Aegon III 'the Dragonbane'.

The incident at Summerhall was implied to be Egg's attempt to hatch dragon eggs.

You need to put in actual reasons why characters are interesting to play like why is Dagon Greyjoy interesting besides sitting on the Seastone Chair a hundred years before the books? (Just an example)

For one, Dunk is a Kingsguard, so you'll get a Game Over as he has no dynastic heirs.

Aegon V: He's known as a champion of the smallfolk. The only bad thing that was said of him in canon was his marriage due to love. But, his actual legacy could be his death, and his heir's at Summerhall.

Rhaegar Targaryen: The Mad King's heir. Start before the Rebellion, and you can easily play as him on the Iron Throne.

Tywin Lannister: The man's a beast at stewardship, good at diplomacy, and decent in all other stats. Depending on your start date, you can force either the Mad King to abdicate to Rhaegar, or try to recreate his exploits in canon (apart from how he died, of course.) Casterly Rock has a solid economic base. (better than KL due to the unique gold mine)

Robert Baratheon: It's easy to prove that Robert was plain lazy as king, or he simply let his ego blind him. You have many able Lord Paramounts, including Dorian Martell which needs some flattering (low opinion issues). Gift Cersei regularly, and even she can be swayed with time.

Balon Greyjoy: A man who rose too high and was forced to his knees and half his children killed. The Young Wolf's rebellion presents a unique opportunity. Reforge your crown, support a massive rebellion, or sit back and plunder your weasly black guts out? Other perks are some able advisers, a kickass daughter, a pretty awesome son (statswise), drowning clowns, and the ability to loot.

Stannis Baratheon: He's the Mannis, nuff said. Rather, he's a middle child with a chip on his soldier and some kinky fire magic at his side. Burn the nonbelievers and show the Seven Kingdoms not only dragons take what is theirs with fire and blood! As he follows R'holler, you can get rid of your wife and marry a beautiful and cunning Essosi woman.

We need some more counts:

Orton Merryweather: Your family lost most of its lands during the reign of the Mad King. You spent your youth in exile, where you married the beautiful foreigner Taena of Myr. Now that you have been allowed to return, you have a chance to regain it all and more. You start as a count in the Reach with excellent stewardship and no duke above you. Bold Jon Roxton: Another Reachman count, you start with excellent swordsmanship and martial skills, as well as a Valyrian Steel Sword. "Historically" you racked up an impressive body count fighting for the Greens. As a non-dragonrider in a world full of dragons, how will you cope? Count of the Ring in the Dance of the Dragons start.

Thank you Rubidium will add this.
And thanks PhoenixFlame

Lets try to keep the flavour text after our characters a little historic just for the future. I may change some up or add some info from the AGOT wiki
Should I remove Dunk? Thought maybe with all the books and short stories he might be interesting

His adventures in Dunk and Egg was before he became a Kingsguard (and Aegon was still a kid prince).

To add on, Orton's grandfather was the Merryweather who served as the Mad King's ineffectual Hand.

Eddard Stark: We all know how he ended up in canon. But, with your input, you may well help the North prosper by ruling wisely. (I'm not sure if there are events in the game based on his investigations in canon)

The Kingsguard is playable, just make sure your heir is a fellow kingsguard member instead of a septon (a curse on Jaime's regent septon ). On whether the kingsguard is interesting to play, well, that is debatable, but Dunk as a former hedgeknight is possibly the most boring lord commander you can find.
