I know I'm not the only one having an issue with internet multiplayer, the community chat in game is currently exploding with people who cannot have their friends connect to their hosted game.

If you choose to join game, or invite friend to game in Steam just gets a message "Requesting Hot Join" , but nothing else happens.

I'm wondering if this is possible a port issue. If some of the Dev's see this, could you respond and let us know which ports Stellaris multiplayer operates on so we can try unlocking them to see if that solves the problem?

There are some games in the internet server list, as I can see most people's game do not show up, I know mine doesn't. Paradox please help.

Hey folks,

Just wanted to let you know that we are looking into the multiplayer issues, but currently there is not eta on when we have the problems nailed down.

Something that is important to note, is that the servers that are/not shown are region based, so if you are trying to find a server that is not in your region, that might be the reason.
 
I was having this problem too, and I found that disabling all my pre-order DLC in the launcher allowed my friends to successfully join.

Yes, I suspected it might have to do something with the DLC's. Good to know that you were able to play together in the end. We'll let you all know when we have an update on the matter.
 
So cant join a game, it sits at requesting hotjoin. when i look in the lobby i dont see many games, and those i do have a mod called augustus. I dont have any mods selected but those are all that is coming up.
 
I was able to start a multiplayer game. Here is how:

What I did was put no password on it, my server didn't show up in the server list, HOWEVER if you shift tab in steam, open a chat with your friend, and click the down arrow next to their name and choose 'Invite to Game' that will work so long as you don't have a password.
 
We used the steam overlay to invite the other to the game which lead to request for hot join for one but no message for the other. So that didn't work. After 30 min he was able to see me in the list and we were able to play. Haven't changed anything so it seemed to got fixed by it self. Game was with all dlc and pw.

Edit: oh well I saw only afterwards that that's basically the workaround described above in the linked thread. But I guess this then counts as confirmation that it worked ^^
 
Had alot of issues last night setting up just a 2 player MP game.

Steam invites did not work for either way. Finding game in list with passwords did not work either way. Finding game without password worked for one of us after fiddling with all the settings and refreshes for like 20-30min.
