Heh, that interview is strangely reminiscent of how I was introduced to Paradox Interactive.
I had been a Civ fanatic since Civ I on DOS. Civ IV got me very interested in the user created mods and scenarios, especially the WWII mod included with one of the expansions. After plaything though the mod several times with several nations, I began to crave a more indepth WWII strategy game. After some quick research on the internet, I discovered the WWII Grand Strategy market was dominated by two franchises, Making History and the Hearts of Iron series. HoI III had just been released and Making History II was still in development, so I picked up HoI III and was introduced to the world of Paradox through this forum.
I haven't fired up Civ IV since that day!
