Intro causes freezes if not bypassed

Every time I launch Europa, I have to quickly click through the intro. If I allow it to run, it'll freeze within 30 seconds. This is really irritating, and since it is just an ad for something I don't want anything to do with, there should be a way to turn it off in a config file.

Anyone else experiance this problem?

May wanna get the latest drivers for your video card.
IIRC Viper V550 is a TNT1 based card, and I dont know if Diamond updates drivers for it on their site anymore, but the latest drivers straight from Nvidia should work fine.

I don't even see the intro all I get is a black screen for a few seconds. I have a Voodoo 3000 (with the latest drivers) and EU1.09 crashes repeatedly in game so maybe there's a connection, or maybe it just doesn't like me ?@!

That's weird.. it sounds as if your computer is having a hard time switching to a 800*600 resolution. But one would think a Vóodoo graphics card would be able to do that.

I manually switched to 800x600 in Windows - made no difference

OK it had nothing whatsoever to do with resolutions. It turned out that I didn't have the Windows audio/video compression properly installed . Now I do I get the intro (bit of a cheesy voice over on the UK version ) now to see whether this makes any difference to the repeated crashes I've been getting - probably not .

Certainly was on the right track - by re-installing the video/audio compression in Windows setup I have completely fixed my problems with this game.
