Welcome to my first ever AAR! Allow me to regale you with the tale of my invasion of britain.

The setup.
I'm playing GC-'36 Germany and I've reached aug. 30th 1944. Up until august '44 I'd conquered all of mainland europe, from the urals to the atlantic. This includes scandinavia, iberia and Italy. As a consequence Britain is jam-packed with the airforces of USA, GB, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium and France. The remnants of their navies can also be found there.

Speaking of navies, mine is the third largest in the world, though hardly what you'd call modern. I had spent '43-'44 building up a sizeable navy to take on the combined might of the brits and US. The naval setup was this: 5 fleets of 4 CV's (early), 2 BB's (super-heavy), 1 BC, 1 CA, 3 CL, 13 DD, 2 SS each. Each of them commanded by a grand admiral, but only two with competent command (Raeder and Dönitz).
I had tried to block the british from supplies but in '42 I had to abandon the u-boot blockade in favor of the east front since I'd been ambushed(!) by the russians. It's a long story. Besides the naval power of my fleets I had 5 TF's of 6 TP's each carrying a panzerarmée except the leading one which would leave Königsberg with 6 marine divisions.

The airforces were arrayed in wings of 4 with 16 interceptors (IV) and 20 fighters (III). I also had 16 tac's in wings of 4 (IV). All of these were based on the french side of the channel at airbases from Brest to Amsterdam. Added to these airplanes were some 40 V2 ballistic missiles based in germany proper. My secret weapons for crushing the allied air power.
During my winter bombing campaign, using V1's and 2's, I had counted approximately 40 air div's in eastern england and I knew I was in for a hard fight.

On august 7th 1944 the Kriegsmarine steamed out of port towards an uncertain fate...

At 17:00 hours august the 7th the kanalkampf began with my airplanes attacking the britsh over Dover, I immediately get a nast shock whein I discover that the brits hav upgraded their interceptors to lvl V!

8:00 hours august 8th. The americans manage to ambush my TP's in helgoland bight! I flee in disarray.

21:00 hours august 8th. Raeders battlefleet meets the 12 american ships at doggers banks and sinks two CV's, including the USS Ticonderoga.

22:00 hours the same day. The remaining dutch navy manages to sink a submarine flotilla at the cost of all their remaining DD's.

10:00 hours august 9th. Raeder arrives at the mouth of the Tyne to cover my intended landing at Sunderland.

13:00 hours, same day. The invasion begins! & marine divisions under general Ringel (commando) invades Sunderland, defended by two divisions of Inf '43.

August 10th. During most of the afternoon a fierce naval battle is fought off Sunderlands coast as the US navy tries to interrupt my landings. By evening ther battle is won with the USN suffeing horrendous losses due to a lack of CV's.

During the initial invasion phase I have also launched my entire luftwaffe fighter force against eastern & western england. They lose every single engagement!
I now deploy my secretly hoarded missiles from Germany, they are sent to eastern england with orders to crater the runways, strike at logistics and destroy installations. The results are mixed. One wing destroys the airbase t Dover completely and I laugh at the despair of the RAF. Only to discover that the idiot rocketforces waste 4 of my high-tech rockets by blowing up the same airbase an hour later!

13:00 hours august 13th. Ringels marines take Sunderland. I immediately discover 30+ divisions in the 3 neighbouring provinces! As I land the remaining 24 div's by steaming my TP's into port I wonder how long until the counterattack will come...

14:00 hours august 13th. Declining to wait for the british to launch their counterattack Feldmarschall Hausser attacks Blackpool to the west with the intention of cutting off Scotland from the south. At 19:00 the battle is won.

August 15th. Hausser arrives in Blackpool, at 23:00 he is sent packing again by rushed in british reinforcements.

The british now numbered over 40 div's around my beachhead at Sunderland and I was begininng to get worried. I even considered using my only nuke in order to save my invasion force but in the end I decided against it, opting to wait for my second wave of troops instead.

3:00 hours august 16th. Von Kleist lands unopposed at Belfast and parades his panzerarmée through the city.

On august the 17th I decide to attempt a breakout from my salient at Sunderland. Von Manstein attacks to the north against Edinbugh and Ringel strikes south towards Sheffield in an effort to bind the british whilst Hausser and the main body strikes for Blackpool a second time.

August 19th. My first victory in an airbattle! Both the luftwaffe and the RAF have suffered about 50% losses so far but thanks to the mission system no air divisions have been lost, at least not by me.

12:00 hours august 21st. Having secured northern Ireland General von Kleist begins the attack on the Irish republic.

At 15:00 hours the same day I get a nasty shock as I discover that the US fighters in southern england are following my interceptors home and trying to bomb the airbase in Lille, or simply attacking my fighters at their weakest.

21:00 hours august 23rd. Von Manstein marches into Edinburgh chasing ca. 7 british divisions northwards.

18:00 hours august 25th. Glasgow falls to von Manstein.

7:00 hours august 28th. Blackpool finally falls to Haussers weary troops.

12:00 hours august 29th. Von Kleist captures Dublin against the opposition of only one division. The irish will soon fall.

It is now august the 30th. Von Manstein just broke the BEF HQ in Inverness and is pushing towards Scapa Flow, Scotland is doomed.
In the south I have just finished unloading the second wave of 24 Inf '43 divisions, plus another 3 panzers and 3 motorised divisions. Opposing these are an about equal number of divisions whose make I do not know.

In the air things have come to a breaking point. The RAF are weakened and losing their punch, however my luftwaffe is also losing their strenght, the kanalkampf remains undecided. I am unwilling to commit my last rockets until I know if I can break through the british lines in northern england.

The good news is that the Kriegsmarine rules the waves! I suppose the brits are unwilling to spend their precious fuel on the RN when I've already landed my army in the north. Or perhaps they're just chicken? :D My main problem now is supplies, I neglected to build enough convoys and I'm beggining to worry about keeping my troops in fuel and ammo, the stockpiles that I built up during the first week of the invasion are beggining to dwindle and I wont see any more convoys for another couple of months.

As Haussers army stands poised to invade england from the north, Görings bombers await the signal in northern france. Will the mighty wehrmacht succeed or will the brave defenders of Albion prevail against all odds? More will come tomorrow...

P.S. Fell free to ask questions or simply drop a line. D.S.

OK people. I have about a month more of gametime played and let me tell you, everything still hangs in the balance. Before I continue the AAR though I'd like to tell you that I've got lots of tasty screenies depicting the heavy air battles above the channel, as well as the arrival of the full force of the US navy. What I wonder is if anyone could tell me how to insert the pics? I don't quite understand the insert image thingy...
