I was dinking about with the English the other day and realized that Ireland is really not much of a problem. By the time I converted only Meath was over 5000 folks so I just send a few settlere and blammo- Protestant Ireland and no problems. Would it make ense to raise the Irish populations over 5000 just to prevent the English from cheaply and easily conevrting what was always a problematic province for the English.

I have read quite some people show evidence that Ireland was quite well populated. More than 5000 anyway, but they didn't live in cities exactly. I'd do it though to stop Ireland being such a pushover.

While the populations might (and as you said they might not be too much) be historically inaccurate Ithink the game benefits more than outweight the historical inaccuracy of having an easily Calvinist Ireland.

I'm all for upping the population, at least when a human is playing England (which I do over and over again). I make a point of not colonizing any provinces other than Ulster once Protestent, to add that revolt possibility.

On the other hand, I think 5000 city population is a major break point in terms of adding higher tax or production income, so the English would be enriched somewhat.

Yeah, that's an issue. Having four more 5000+ tax bracket provinces would help England as well has having the effect of making them more difficult to convert. Always got to think of the ramifications, no?

Could you not drive the pop up to 5000 and then lower the tax values so that while they are now not easily covertable they don't give England a big tax windfall.

Getting populations from 1000 to 5000 isn't really that much an income booster. Base tax is quite high for Ireland (taking in account such low population) regardless how many people live there. Production income will prolly go up a bit but on the other hand they will stay catholic without drastic measures.

I played as England several times and I worry about Those bloody scots more then the Irish.and after Finally after the kingdoms The Scots cused less trouble then the Irish and it wouldn't really effect the gameplay other than increase the revolt risk which would be really reason to keep a look out for a rise of that famous luck of the Irish.

In my current game as Russia, England is down to four provinces in Britain as the rest of the island belongs to Scotland. Ireland is still under English control though, even surviving a civil war without a major revolt.

I don't think making England stronger will cause too big of a problem...
