Hi,

first off, I'm PISSED. It doesn't help, but I needed to get that off my chest.

I played an ironman game starting as Harold II in the Stamford Bridge bookmark all the way to 1440. And now the steam save is corrupted - all titles in the UK are black and some of my territory is attributed to wrong rulers. But since my capital was in Middlesex, I can't even attempt a load as my character no longer exists.

Is there any way to repair this? Also, while searching for a fix for this issue I've found a way to backup ironman saves in EU IV, can I use the same method to backup CKII saves?

The sticky File Locations thread above details where the Ironman saves go on your local system.

I don't have a way to repair corrupted files, I'm sorry. You might ask the folks over in the user Mods forum, who are more experienced in analysing those files and maybe even fixing yours for you!

I've now logged a new bug on this issue of Ironman saves becoming corrupt. Please post any new information as it comes to hand, in particular:

- what triggers the corruption? Is it any particular event, action, date, size of empire or kingdom, anything at all?
- is it ONLY Ironman games this happens to?
- does it make any difference if the game is saving to the Cloud or locally?

You should be able to simply copy the savegame file.

Thanks, I noticed that I was able to do it and it still retained the Ironman status... This is a good way to backup your Ironman games that are saved to cloud and I think I will do it for my next Roman Empire game, given what happened to my last Ironman game.

We've managed to find what was causing the problem and fixed it. I'm sorry that I can't fix your saves for you because a huge chunk of data is missing in them(which was the problem).
The fix will be deployed as fast as possible. :)
