My ironman savefile is in local save games folder in documents folder but its not showing up in game. its not in incompatible save list either. Game is just ignoring that it exists. its not a 0 byte file either. what is the problem here? I have attached savefile here so please anyone look it up and see what is wrong with it.

That file is entirely blank I'm afraid, so there's no rescuing it.

Not sure why it has Backup in it, but is there any other save you can revert to?

Wow, that's pretty bad. I have no idea what could cause that, I'm sorry, except you'd think it would have to be a game bug.

What I suggest for the future is you make a manual copy of the save file just before or after each play session, so you have something intact to revert to.

My laptop is quite slow and it's painful closing the game and turning off laptop so when I'm playing Ironman game and I need to close the game, I'd skip time until game autosaves and then I'd just hard press the power button so laptop shuts itself down. It has never caused problem for me until now but this time, something must have went wrong I guess. But thank you I'll be more careful in the future.

I see, I'm now quite confident that led to your problem!

Power outages have broken saves in the same way for other people. My guess is that it happens if you switch off your computer after eu4 is finished saving, but before your OS has written the file from the disk cache to the disk. In general it is not a good idea to switch off your computer by hard pressing the power button. It can lead to all kinds of file corruption if your OS was in the process of writing a file. It might be possible to speed up the normal shutdown of your computer by uninstalling unnecessary tools which do something during shutdown. A fresh install of your OS would probably also help, but is more destructive. Or maybe you can close all running memory-hungry programs and then hibernate/suspend-to-disk instead of shutting down the computer. Or if your OS already uses some kind of hibernation(I think windows 8 or newer do that by default) it might be faster to configure it to do a normal shutdown(usually hibernation slows down the shutdown but vastly speeds up the startup, but the effects vary from system to system).
