I've tried them but don't like them much - too simple. What people want to do is tech. You can't do that at all in the battlescenarios and you do little else in the 36 - hence the observed preferences. The extreme case is some who takes the USA in a V-Net 36 game. They must surely realise by now that the chances of actually doing any fighting must be small but still they rush to pick that country.

But there is one huge advantage in playing US in 1936 scenario, you have plenty of time to make yourself dinner, watch football/film/news, phone to a girlfriend, go with your dog for a walk. The only problem is that you cannot use the same comp in the same time to surf net  .

Exactly. That's why in a stable group game, playing USA can be a lot of fun. That is, of course, if the game doesn't die from mysterious CTDs in 1940 like a large proportion of MP games seem to do.

Unlike the typical VNet game, the typical group game does proceed deep into war, until one side or the other feels that it has been defeated, and the USA generally does get into the fighting before that happens. I believe if Andrew played 36 in some stable groups, instead of simply trying it out with the collection of VNet rats I see him join games with, he might not be so prejudiced against the scenario.

Is there any other way to play but the Battle Scenarios.

Although I dare not go out and play on Vnet looking for a game, I instead play via internet with my friends. We started playing the 36' scenario but it really isn't that much fun especially since some lack the strategy sense.

We've played the Desert Fox scenario, Operation Husky, Operation Barborossa and the ever humorous Poland Scenario.

Although I'm usually on the side that wins (Except Poland one; ten days short....), its always fun especially the Barborossa scenario when I was against Finland, Germany. and Romania.

I think BS are just more convinient and more fun (less wait) but I guess I'm alone.
