I'll try to keep the background short: I started off as a count somewere in the kingdom of Castille. I saw that the King of Aragon had only one single province, so I went to war with him, won, and became King of Aragon. I also swallowed up the Kingdom of Navarra. My king now has two king titles. For both asthetic and roleplaying reasons, I would rather be associated with Navarra than Aragon, but my shield stays as Aragon's shield.

My question is this: is it possible to change the shield I am associated with? I don't care if it is in-game or through altering the savefile, I just want to be a different king.

The easiest way

1. Give the title king of Navarra to your heir
2. Save the game
3. Load the game but now select the king of Navarra as the kingdom you want to play
4. Click on the king of Aragon, so that his character-sheet pops up
5. Press F12
6. type in : die
7. Press ctrl+F12

why not 1/4 the shields like so and replace it under arag in the CoA folder
arag.jpg

if you want to use this save it as a .bmp

Is there any way to do it without sacrificing my heir? Perhaps a savefile alteration?

Yes

1. Open your save game with Wordpad or Notepad
2. Search and replace all entries of NAVA with XXXX
3. Then search and replace all entires of ARAG with NAVA
4. Then search and replace XXXX with ARAG

Be careful with this and the Kingdom of the Rus (RUSS) because not only are there lots of culture "russian" but there's "prussian" as well...

Just be sure to make the Replace with 'Match Case' option set ... then you only change the tags.

Much obliged, everyone. Thank you.

But now it gets more complicated. What if I wanted to change from Navarra into a third kingdom? Since it has already been mentioned, let's just say Russia as that third kingdom.

Would this mean:
1. Changing all RUSS to XXXX.
2. Replacing all NAVA with RUSS.
3. Replacing all XXXX with NAVA?

If so, do I have to do anything with the ARAG? I just tried altering the savefile again in a few different ways (using Leon instead of Russia, of course :) ) and I just messed it up. Fortunately, I made a duplicate.

I don't mean to ask you to do my homework for me, but I seem to be failing when I test this myself.

You don't have to do anything with ARAG if you want to change your primary title form NAVA to RUSS

:)

Sorry for bumping a thread, but its not worthy of a new one- I tried to do this, as the Duchy of Carinthia, trying to give my heir the Duchy of Verona, and despite it being highlighted as a possibility, when I click on "give duchy of verona" it does nothing. If I give him the county of verona, then go to give him the ducal title, it says its not even applicable.

If you have a demesne of just 1 province you can't grant away anymore titles.

Carinthia starts with 3 provinces directly owned by the Duke.
