I just got the game, so this might be a stupid question, but I had a nice home province which I liked very much. But while I was fighting a war on the other side of the island a traitor declared civil war. Before my armies could get back home he had taken my province. Few days later I took it back, but I seem to be unable to move my home province back to it's original location. Is there move capital button somewhere, just like in CKII, or is giving away all my other provinces the only way I can move my capital to it's original location?

There's no move capital button. But the capital doesn't really have any importance so you could just rp that the old province is still your capital.

I know it doesn't have any significance, other than aesthetic. I just find it more pleasing if capital is in place which has special meaning for the history of the clan or to Japan (like for example, while game doesn't mention it, Heian-Kyō is on the capital province of Ashikaga clan, which makes it much cooler capital than some random province you just conquered from another clan).

Could you elaborate just a bit on how does one go about that? pretty please!

There's a crown symbol in the province window. If you click that it will move the capital. It's on the top of the province window, near the coat of arms.

I'm sure you could edit the save file to move the capital back.
