Replace Consumer Good and Amenities with trade. Greatly simplify the economy to the benefit of players and AI.
My idea economic model has two resources, minerals and food, one manufactured item from those two resources, alloys. This means we could have truly organic based species. Trade would be used in all cases where consumer goods and amenities were used. This makes every super simple. Trade makes for a happy and productive populace who in turn churns out science, unity, and goods like minerals, food, and alloys. I would eliminate energy and just ignore any place it previous was used.
Again...? Stellaris already had few resources. And it in fact does not help the AI. Before alloys, minerals did everything, and the AI had to understand how to invest in ships and other things, then with Alloys it knows that it should use for X, Y, Z things only while minerals for others.
Stellaris was not better with less resources.
