I understand what you mean. And when i remember correct then get the ai no malus. on overcrowded airfields. That would make airfield bombing pointless. Unless you can destroy planes on the ground?

port strike seems more useful than strat bombing for coordinated strike - could be useful on rare occasions if you actually dunk a significant % of opposing navy.

the operation has to actually work for that to matter though. no idea if it does. it rarely even comes up.

It no longer does. At least with the port strike option, you would immediately get a battle report screen with ships damaged or sunk on the state where you selected the attack, spread out across every port in the selected state, on the same tick that you got the war notification. This is no longer the case, and has not been for some years now

It was quite useful when it worked. Especially against the AI, you could easily tie up dockyards in repairs while you took advantage of the weakened fleet to launch invasions. And I do hope that they either fix it or add in naval raids (or preferably both, as coordinated strike can only be run once, and raids have to be against a nation you're at war with)

it used to be the case that strat bombing airfields would kill some of the planes iirc. not sure if that's right.

suppressing airfields can give you a lasting advantage if you keep the bombing pressure on after the war starts and they can't get enough planes to protect airfields as a consequence. almost certainly, coordinated strike isn't nearly good enough for that even if it gets patched to work again.

Coordinated Strike was always "meeeh" since it was implemented. You get a lot of things done quickly in a row but many of these things are largely irrelevant to the war at large. For example, strategic bombing / structures being damaged. The enemy will be able to repair those very quickly so damaging them will barely matter at all.

If we were speaking about several levels of airports being damaged, maybe even supply hubs and other things, and a 30 days debuff making repair impossible on said structures, maybe it would be pretty decent. But even back at launch this was one of these almost useless actions a player can take.

In a lot of cases you also won't want to sink the enemy fleet - you want to send them back to your own Scapa flow like the Brits did with the Germans (without letting silly German to remain on said ships, of course). Translation: you won't want to sink the enemy fleet but to demand it during peace talks. Cheapest way to get a lot of naval power without bothering much.
Yeah it'd be worth it for a quick cutoff attack if it made airfields unusable for a short while or something.

I was thinking about getting La Resistance, if only so that UI button on the top toolbar isn't grayed out anymore. But according to recent Steam reviews, intel tokens disappear when you load a save. That's a pretty major issue that would prevent me from buying the DLC altogether. Is this actually the case?
Yeah all kinds of DLC parts break or get replaced all the time and they never spend any effort to fix them.

Because they already have future DLCs planned that will render these bugged parts obsolete or will completely fix them, I suppose.

We couldn't do anything about Mussolini's assassination as Italy (which was being performed by Kaiser's Germany), and Paradox never bothered fixing that because they had an Italian national focus planned for years which would completely neuter the Assasination attempt if we wanted so.

In large part they never bothered much with tank icons because they were replacing tech trees with shells as well.

While I wouldn't use the term "(fundamentally) broken" on the entire LaR DLC, I rate it among the weaker ones for a couple of reasons. Several issues of my list have already been mentioned by others (spy token bug, inconvenient espionage UI, poor state of armored cars); I would like to add those two:

(1) While I overall liked the change to the occupation/garrison systemaway from on-map to off-map, the actual logic for what makes a good garrison template could be improved. Also, the AI has still troubles to manage resistence under the new system due to a poor choice of occupation laws overall (for secret police the evaluation code is even missing completely: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...on-law-v1-12-5b273-beta-1-12-12-456f.1553460/ ) and German RK puppets suffer in particular (because they additionally don't focus their limited manpower/equipment but instead waste in on frontline divisions). At least here is hope that this will be picked up in future again, as Arheo recently mentioned that a rework of the AI logic here is possible in future.

(2) The focus trees might be overall ok when it comes to the focii, but the French tree being completely reset after the intermediate Free France/Vichy mini-tree is viewed as a significant flaw by many others, too ( https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...start-the-france-national-focus-tree.1560068/ ) - sadly, this being considered as "WAD" makes a future change unlikely :(

That funding mechanic really doesn’t feel right LA Resistance ends up being clunky and underwhelming. It could use a rework to make sure support efforts actually matter in the long run.

Huh? When LaR is disabled, the button is not greyed out, it's non-existent.

BTW the intel tokens are irrelevant. The spy minigame is trash, and the only operation worth doing is collab government (which is broken OP, compared to not having LaR and having to capitulate certain nations the hard way).

After having read the rest of the comments, I concur with all. LaR is overall a trash DLC.
I haven't played in a little while, so I may have missed this. I also remember it appearing when playing TNO.
