Early in the game I tried to do a little trading. Picked up about $49,000 in Diamond in Africa and sold them in Sweden for .....$4,500,000!

Next, nowhere can I have ships built. Even the smallest warship calls for a size 2 port even in London. WTF!

On a mission for Spain I smuggled spice in India for delivery to Lisbon. Instead of the route around Africa my fleet went into the red sea as if it were going through the Suez and just stayed there butting into land.

I quit playing and am shocked to find no other mention here. Thought there my be another patch out for all this.

I wish I ran into your first 'oddity'! I had quit the opposite yesterday when about $10,000 worth of precious stones I had bought dissapeared enroute somewhere between Mocha and Luanda.

I read you need to have a favourable rating with a country to build ships in their port. I just steal mine.

Haven't experienced your other bug but the short answer to your question is yes, Privateer is broken. Imo a bad business decision was made by someone to release buggy unfinished products rather than postpone the promised release date. If you look around the board here there's quite a few threads about bugs and gameplay issues with Privateer and Designers Cut. Be happy yours' at least isn't crashing.

Nitro/Paradox has been really responsive with addressing issues up until this fiasco, which is why I suspect there was outside marketing pressures. I'm sure they're working frantically on patches for Privateer and the limited release Designers Cut, which should be available when the finished Designers Cut is in the EIC.com downlods section. Probably in 2 weeks.

I am glad I checked in to read this thread. I thought that the privateer expansion and the designers cut would have addressed some EIC gameplay issues. If they only add more problems, then I wont be buying them. Too bad. This game can go on the shelf next to HOI3. If neither are player friendly in 6 months they are both going in the trash.

Thank you for the feedback, we'll look into these issues.
I can't seem to reproduce the trade thing (diamonds from Africa to Sweden), but if that indeed happened, it is obviously a bug...

As for the ship construction, you need favourable standing to build tradeships and friendly standing to build warships.

And lastly on the bugged route, this was an issue long ago and it should have been fixed allready.

My best guess is that your installation might have gone wrong, I'd suggest you do a complete reinstall on the game and try again.

Please inform me if these things happen again.
