In vanilla it never seemed to bother building a reactor, is it the case here as well? I wouldn't want to invest time in doing this if the AI doesn't, it feels like an exploit to me. Thanks.

I wouldn't bet on that. Yes, we do use essentially vanilla AI, but it has been adapted to use our tech IDS, etc, so you may find that the USA (in particular) will actually research Nukes.

And if a reactor speeds nuclear research the way a rocket test facility speeds rocketry research, then it's well worth the investment. At least up to a level 3 or 4.
The question is if the AI actually builds the required number of reactors (5 or 6?) to produce nuclear weapons once it has researched the techs - that I can't answer currently.
I know dec152000 has adjusted research and build priorities for CORE and might've done something there. Hopefully he checks in soon to let us know.

Right now the USA is set to go to 4 Reactors so probablly isn't getting the bomb production. I have seen the AIs actually building Reactor/Rocket sites so hopefully we can get this working right.
