The last time I played Magicka was in August of 2011. I could get as far as that town after you fight on the flying ships, but then, for no apparent reason, the game became super slow. I did some research and found out that it was because of a giant memory leak. Has this been fixed yet?

This s the first time I'm hearing stuff about a memory leak.

Have you tried playing again? Could have been something besides a memory leak. The games been patched several times since August.

Please also post your system specs and a dxdiag report so we can track the issue down.

If this is the "graphic hit" in chapter 4 your talking about ... ?

The 1.4.3.1 -update made an overall improvement on the game. No real slowdowns in certain places anymore. (assuming you have the power needed in the first place) I'm not sure if the optimising of chapter 4 is done, or if this is a result of reducing texture resolution and other fixing. This is the latest heard about this specific issue. Anyway, if you haven't played the 1.4.3.1 or later, do. The game now also saves on checkpoint ;)

Yeah I don't know what a dxdiag report is, and I'd be glad to post one eventually. I'm really only asking because, as I stated before the last time I played was in August. Right now all I have is my laptop with an integrated graphics chipset. I did read the system requirements and I do know that integrated cards aren't supported. However, sometime between now and the end of march I'll be getting my new Alienware Aurora R4 in the mail; bought it direct from Dell. I was hoping the problem was fixed so I could actually finish this super innovative and awesome game. Also if it is fixed then I'll definitely be doing PvP and buying the expansions. But first I want to get through the main campaign.
The new specs are as follows:

Intel quad core i7-3820 (10mb cache) factory overclocked to 4.1Ghz.
1.25 GB GDDR5 Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti
1Tb SATA hard drive with read speads up to 6G/bs and a 32MB cache.
8GB Quad Channel DDR3 Ram. (Probably going up to 12GB if I can fit my old systems ram in there).
Running Windos 7 Home Premium 64bit.

In either case my new system will be more than capable of running the game.
All I can remeber is my roommate and I had a local connection and were playing together. We fought some baddies on flying pirate ships then went into some town. All hell broke loose and we had to fight through the town. At some point you cross a bridge. We couldn't get farther than the bridge because all of a sudden everything just lagged out so hard that the game would freeze or crash. We researched it and, thought, we found that what was occurring is that by this point in the game it just started filling up your ram because of some memory leak.
In either case is this leak and or graphics spike or whatever fixed? and I assume my new system will be far more capable of playing this game than ever before yes?

sounds like the new rig will handle Magicka and then some.

Enjoy!
