Is there a difference between the US and UK version ?

... if there is any UK version at all.

I just install my newly London-bought version on Windows XP:
It complains about the DirectX 8.1 version not being the good one (and it fails installing the one it wants BTW, but everything seems fine), the binkplayer complains also (but the introduction movie - the movie showing the inside of the cathedral if that's it - seems to play fine), but I am wondering if I need to install the 1.04 patch or not (or wait for the 1.05 patch) ?

Does someone know ?

UK version is published by UBI Soft and comes with version 1.04
US version is published by Strategy First and comes with version 1.00

If you bought EU in London, then it should be at 1.04.

If you can wait a few days before playing I would recommend to wait for the release of patch 1.05. There are so many things changed (check the link on top of the forum "Latest patch") that it will be better to start a new game.
