Hi, as the title says, is there an option not to capture enemy ships? I hate it when say my 100 light ships engage in some minor battle and end up capturing a galley or something, and then return to port to repair that one ship ( i have a mission to return to port when slightly damaged), just in case a war breaks out and my already damaged ships receive heavy losses.
And also, I like to keep my stacks ‘neat’ , so pausing the game and manually removing those extra ships just feels frustrating

Yep, one of the most annoying feature (or lack of it rather) in the game. After every naval battle, I pause the game, and detach the ships I captured.

It's worse even when you have a fleet of heavies out hunting enemy fleets. They fight one battle, capture some heavily damaged light ships, galleys or transport ships and spend the next months in harbour while enemies roam freely in your waters. If they catch another enemy fleet or are caught by one (usually due to the slow galleys now added to the fleet), before repairing all ships, the weak captured ships sinking hurts your fleet's morale in battle and potentially causes a death spiral for the fleet with huge losses where otherwise there would be few to none.

It'd be nice to have options for which type of ship to capture and to send the captured ships to harbour instead of adding them to the fleet.
I'm usually fine with capturing heavies, but lights are just useless, transports I can usually do without and galleys always depend on the region I play in.

You can press "a" on your keyboard while selecting your navy. It allows to detach damaged ships faster.

Its not about detaching damaged ships, it’s about taking no prisoners/enemy ships at all :)

I wrote for that part. If you want to keep your stacks "neat", instead of pausing and removing you can deatach the damaged ships.

But sometimes some of your own ships get slightly damaged (e.g. to 97%), so you end up detaching captured and some of your own ships.

I mean, we don’t capture any enemy’s artillery, so it would be nice if there was an option not to capture any enemy ships.
Oh well, it’s not that big of a deal, just a minot annoyance

If you are ok with modding, you could try to add -100% chance to capture enemy ships to some ideagroup or something.

Now that I think of it, I might change war taxes to give -100% capture chance and reduce its cost to 0 MIL. I don't usually use that button anyway (except when its free, but then forget about it during age of reformation)
