So I contacted the Paradox Support about this matter, and the attached is the whole reply. If I believe everything I read, the PC version of Empire of Sin is no longer supported, or being developed. But the console version is still being worked on. I guess I will wait more.
Please disregard the response given by my agent ><. He got games mixed up and it's not true that the game is what we classify as a legacy game. I don't have more to say on this as I'm not part of the team working on EoS but this was brought to my attention and I wanted to clarify this point to avoid further confusion.

That, at least, is something.

Of course, it only puts us back to where we were - which is 2.5 years in without any tangible information - game's actual developers outright REFUSE to talk about or acknowledge - and a company that took our money so long ago that the vast majority have likely given up on ever seeing any kind of value - all from a company that regularly sells season passes and early access for other games that likely started development after we paid for something we dont have.

At some point, someone has to take some kind of accountability.

Haha yeah sure...it's a strategy to avoid lawsuits.... They still sell the extension pass on Steam.

Obviously, someone from PDX is reading this, yet they don't care enough to transparently relay relevant information especially to those customers who paid for an extension they never received. You can at least stop selling the expansion pass, because scamming your customers is never a good idea. You may have control over the content posted here on the forums, but sooner or later this sharade will make it's way to reddit, twitter, whatever. It will be difficult figuring out how you can very quietly release some form of DLC that will please Sony/Microsoft and some of the PC crowd without stirring up the story of business/communication malpractice too much. If the extension is shallow, you risk exposure of the BS you have pulled here - a good extension costs too much.

I hope someone is doing the calculations in the background what is worth what. But I sincerely hope you all learn from this: open communication has always been one of the things people who have supported you for years have like about PDX. Obviously, you changed course regarding this. Part of it, I do understand with people on forums and social media. But ripping off your customers is really awful. And I am not talking about discontiniuing a game. That shit happens, you would have all my respect if you simply posted here that the game is discontinued - maybe offer a game/dlc of the customer's choice at an equivalent value for those who bought the season pass here on the forum. It's all good, you can absolutely abandon a game. But staying silent on a game for more than 1,5 years when the developers are clearly working on new projects and you are scrambling to fulfil contractual obligations - that is a different level. Shame on the people making the decisions in this entire process.

People who have already paid their money deserve answers. We talk about gamer entitlement, but in this case, yes people who have already paid for the season pass are absolutely entitled to know when they're getting the second part which is still on sale.
They backed the game by paying in advance for future content.

While I respect it is not your job to give us more information, it is apparently enough of your concern to point out mistakes in other people's information. Please, therefore, pass along to the developers supposedly working on this game (I say supposedly because literally none of us know who is working on this anymore, if anyone), that there are a great deal of people who are very unhappy with the lack of communication, as they have invested in this game, and deserve to know if they are receiving the product they paid for with the expansion pass. or are they going to get a refund. Those are the two options, receipt of the content, or refund.

I fully understand that the lack of information is a major sticking point and I really wish I could tell you more alas I don't have anything to share ><. Trust me when I tell you that I'm hounding as many people as I can about this on pretty much a weekly basis as I also want the second DLC to come out (I really enjoy Empire of Sin!) but there's only so much I can do. When there's more information to share I'll shout it from the rooftops unless someone beats me to it.

Thanks for at least taking an interest. It’s the first we’ve heard from any Paradox staff on the forum since Romero fell silent.

So, with the Paradox sale today, I thought I would take a look. DLC 2 is not only still for sale on Steam store but they are currently charging more for it ($15) than the base game itself ($9).

Such a promising lead we had, all to be torn apart. Guess we are back at ground zero, in terms of reviving this game.

There is some hope. I mean, we got our first Paradox developer comment since 2021, and Paradox seems to be starting to add beta patches for seemingly discontinued games. (Vic2 and I:R)

Just to avoid confusion: it's your contractual obligation to release a second DLC (or issue a refund) and not some goodie for the community.

The problem is Paradox wasn't directly developing this game. Romero just dipped randomly after the last DLC and gave no word on what is happening with the game. Not even a message saying 'we're done with the game'. When I tried to communicate with them, they just said talk to Paradox. I don't think this game is that bad but it looked like it didn't sell enough for Romero or something. It's also scummy that they are developing a new game whilst not addressing this and still have the expansion pass up for sale when we literally have no word on if this DLC is even coming out.

My theory is perhaps Paradox will form a small team to develop the last promised DLC or the people who paid for the expansion pass get refunded. I hope it gets resolved soon because its been like 2 years at this point.

PDX actively refusing to stop defrauding the community by selling non-existent DLC, despite being clearly put on notice internally by good folks like you, is not a good look tbh

@TinyWiking

Expansion 2 description from their promotions and Steam:

"The second expansion for Empire of Sin includes new game mechanics, missions, and powerful characters that come to visit Chicago. The question is, will you let them stay?"

We need to hold them to providing that level of content - at minimum.

Romero Games just deleted the Empire of Sin Channel from their discord. Things arent looking good.
Romero still has their naive thought that they can get away by silently pissing away and leaving the small rabble behind this game to continue on raging, while they work on other projects. Seems like they are already at the end of their plan

It's basically June already. A month left until they either prolong the release date or have to put out a statement.

The release of expansion pack 2 which was originally scheduled for May 2022 (!) is still not out.

The Nintendo site has it down for June this year now.

I'm certain that will happen. Nothing surer...

This post contains a link that leads to the Nintendo-Website. They had the release for the Switch-version of expansion pack 2 scheduled for June 2023. Now, they changed the date on the site to June 2024 ;) Congrats to @Eelectrica for the prediction.

It's very very sad, yet to no one's surprise, that @TinyWiking 's "craving and begging" has been to no avail. And of course we still have nothing from PDX, Remero obviously does not want to have anything to do with the game anymore.
Yet, you can still preorder Duke Nukem 3....Empire of Sin Unnamed Expansion Pack 2.

Please don't do it

This is becoming shittier by the minute. The dishonesty with customers is appalling and insulting.

Does anyone know of any regulatory agencies in Sweden that can be complained to to actually force PDX to make a statement about this? Because selling preorders for a game that isn't even being developed seems like fraud to me, and given the fact that they seem to be ignoring an internal whistleblower's concerns it seems like PDX is at least complicit in whatever bull Romero Games is pulling.

The whole thing is a travesty of customer service and loyal customers who have bought many products over the years have been left completely in the dark. The fact that nobody has made a meaningful statement is just a giant "f*ck you" to those who have paid.

Edit: The other thread in this forum that discusses this issue is "DLC#2" and I replied agreeing with the OP in April 2022. How can it be that over a year on, there is still no word? Disgraceful.

Pretty surprised that there isn't someone saying something in response. You would think that the company would like to appear forthcoming on this, and at least just put it to bed. The less they say, the more negative speculation festers and customer faith in them gets lost.
