So I was used to play Stellaris on Xbox but recently, I wanted to play the game on PC with mouse and keyboard.

But the image quality on Xbox Series X is ten times better than on my PC. Below, I post 3 screenshots:

1) Xbox Series X
2) PC with HDR on (activated in console command)
3) PC with HDR off

So what's wrong with Stellaris' HDR on PC?

For information, I'm on Windows 10, I run a 7800X3D CPU, a Geforce 4080 GPU, all settings are on high and I play on my LG CX Oled tv

I've never seen any of our games on any console, so I can't really comment on the comparison. But that last screenshot is definitely not right.

Can you test with a proper computer monitor, instead of a TV?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Hi Andrew and thanks for the quick answer.

Here are the requested files.

As for trying with a PC monitor, it's not really possible since the only one I got is a 1080p non HDR one.

Also, Stellaris is the only game I got that has HDR issues. All my other games supporting HDR look as good the first screenshot of my OP (the Series X one).

Thanks for the help

I don't see anything out of order there.

I think I got your 2nd and 3rd screenshots mixed up - but frankly neither look right. Any chance you could try that monitor anyway?

I have no idea, I am sorry! My guess would be the latter, as I suspect it wasn't a 'thing' when it was first written 8 years ago. I'll ask in a back channel I have access to.

We were right - the game does not have native HDR, it runs through Windows HDR.

Yeah and maybe that's why you see better results on Series X since it's a newer version of Stellaris and has native HDR..?

I calibrated Windows 11 auto HDR differently and below is the best results I got.

Series X screenshot on the left and Windows 11 screenshot on the right

Well that looks a LOT better than the previous shots - well done!
