Hello,

I got a new laptop recently and when I try to launch CK2 from steam I get the CK2 specific launcher up fine, but when I click play/try to load into my most recent autosave the launcher cuts out, the music keeps playing like normally, but nothing loads in besides a continued loop of the music. I also lose mouse access during this, thankfully I can still alt tab over to task manager to close the program (note alt-tabbing does not restore mouse access to anything else, but as soon as I force quit via task manager it comes back)
I have tried uninstalling/verifying my files, any help would be appreciated, thank you

Install ALL these Microsoft modules:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=8328
https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=13523
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52685
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
(run dxsetup.exe after extracting from this download)

Add ck2game.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Also if you have installed RadeonPro, or a gaming VPN app called Evolve, or the MSI Gaming App, or Duet, disable it as it clashes with this game.

IF NEITHER OF THOSE HELP:
DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Hi,
Thanks so much for the help, unfortunately it still isn't running :/
Attaching all the files, hopefully it isn't too hard to figure out

Thanks again for the help

edit: not sure why it uploaded some files twice, but they are itdentical

The only thing i see in there is that refreshRate=60 in settings.txt

But this problem only affects this one saved game, are you saying? You can start and play a new campaign okay?

I see you use a mod, was this problem save played with that mod active?

I will check the refresh rate out when I get home from work, hopefully that is it.

It's not just the one save game, I wish I was better at communicating what was going on, but the splash loader from steam that shows all the DLC (I don't have any mods) loads fine, but if I click the default launch or the launch last save game, the launcher blinks out as if I quit it but the menu music starts looping endlessly (no new screen, even just an all black one pops up, all it is is steam and whatever else I have open on my desktop), and I lose mouse control (thankfully keyboard commands still work), even leaving it for 15 minutes hoping it was just a weird load on a new laptop didn't change anything.

Thanks again though, this is my first fancy laptop so it probably has a different refresh rate from the old one

EDIT: I should try lowering my monitor down to 60 rather than bringing ck2 up right? Or is this outdated thinking

Ok by renaming the settings file and forcing the game to spawn a new one everything seems to be working again.

Thanks again for the help, wouldn't have thought at all about the settings file in any way if you hadn't brought up the refresh rate thing
