Quite a few nations I liberated as Germany tried leaving the alliance. Serbia and Greece in particular. Well I re-invaded them and re-puppeted them, and the same event fires making them independent of me. I understand it happening the first time, but it doesn't make much sense to puppet countries if the game takes half of them away from me. Nationalist Spain was a particular sore point, as I spent a lot of manpower clearing a huge Allied presence from Republican Spain.

I think this is to keep nations that historically would never have been puppeted by the germans Serbia, because the serbs hated the germans, and greece, because greece is supposed to be ITA controlled, from being puppeted. And NAT spain of course because intervening in Spanish civil war is unhistoricle. HSR makes it so that you can't make an unhistoricle choice (invading rep. spain for ex.) and not pay the consequences of garrisoning that country. HSR wants you to garrison them as happened historically.

I do understand Serbia to an extent, and it ended up providing a neutral buffer to the Soviet advance in Europe, but I didn't intervene in the Spanish civil war. In 1944 Republican Spain (years after winning the war) dowed me for no reason and joined the allies. I rushed troops down there and after great difficulty cleared the Iberian peninsula. In that situation, putting Franco in charge should have been a good thing, as I wasn't the aggressor. At least Gibraltar was neutral as opposed to hostile, but I shed a lot of blood on Franco's behalf, the least he could do to repay me is...well...not being deposed, I guess.

I still have an excellent game going, so the problem isn't too horrible, but in the situation I was in, I think many Spaniards would be pleased I rid Iberia of the anarchist menace.
