Hey, I'm having this problem then trying to update Arma to 1.2. I update to the same directory, launch the game and everything seems fine, but when I choose a scenario a loading screen don't appear. The music goes on but all I see is a black page and after few seconds game crashes. How can I fix this?

If you have not tried this already.

1. uninstall
2. Turn off UAC (if you have Vista or Windows 7)
3. Install game in following location c:\games\hoi2Arma
4. verify game works
5. Install 1.2 patch to the location in 3 above.
6. Verify game works
7. Optional -- Install Arma 1.3 Beta 2 patch (with hotfix after)

If you installed in the folder given at 3) please make sure the Armageddon 1.2 patch installer either automatically finds this folder or you have to manually point it to this folder. Sometimes the installer has the bad habit to create another subfolder named Armageddon and installs the files there but most often this is visible before the installation starts and has te be manually corrected.

Arma 1.1 is not a broken mess, but 1.2 contains some nice improvements. I would consider uprgrading, if for no other reason than as the last official patch of the last official expansion, it is considered to be the ultimate expression of Pdox's vision of the game. That said, I have heard great things about the community 1.3 patch and Arsenal of Democracy.

I would highly recommend that you go to the 1.3 Beta patch.

I should know -- :)

No seriously it addresses many of the serious performance issues that help make the game more enjoyable in the later years.

IF you really expect helpt then tell us more details. What have you done and what's not working ?

What Denniss said ... please provide more details as to what is not working... please refer to my steps to tell me what didnt work.

Well, there's not really much more to tell. I tried to do everything Coreymas suggested and yes I checked did I install the patch in the correct folder. The game without patch itself works fine, but when I install it and launch the game on the top of the menu I can see Doomsday Armageddon v 1.2 (VBLV), so everything seems fine, but then, after I launch a scenario the screen goes black, the music goes on and after few seconds I get the ordinary Don't send error. Yesterday I got my Windows XP reinstalled but the problem didn't solve. I tried the pach from the different sources, I tried to install the game into different places and it all didn't work. Just doesn't know what to do next.

Thanks. I'm somewhat of a moron with all things involving computers, so I haven't been able to patch the game, either.

Looks like I'm sticking with 1.1 for now...

Honestly, patching isn't particularly difficult. I am something of a clod on computers myself, but I got it to work. If you have problems, come here (or the tech support forum - requires registering to see) and someone will help you out. COREYMAS is the man on this kind of thing.

ROBORIX - you might try checking your direct X. Did you have a working game prior to trying to install the 1.2 patch? Also, silly question but you are trying to install Arma 1.2 patch on top of Armageddon, and not a copy of Doomsday or vanilla? Not trying to be insulting, but I've seen it happen.

If you follow these instructions you should be able to patch to 1.2 (and 1.3 beta if you wish)

First thing i need to know a few things.

1. What version of Windows do you have?
2. Right click on the Armageddon icon on your desktop... choose properties in the list and then look at the line that says Target... write down that directory here.

With this info i am sure i can get you to patch properly.

As suggested try updating your DirectX and try to rename the AVI folder in the install directory to AVIBack.

And as asked before .. does this happen only with Battle scenarios or does it happend when selecting a campaign too?
