Hello !

I don´t know if thats the correct forum or if somebody will read this.... but I am "5 seconds before explosion".

I am no coder or anything like that, but what I know is, that the implementation of networks in to the game "went so wrong" (at least in my opinon).

The internal "nametag" (don´t know how I should call that) for the elevated versions of networks always comes (or came) with an 0 or 1 at the end. In order to keep everything in you savegame as it is, the updated version of the network has to have the same tag in it´s internal name.

Saving a network caused that "tag" to jump, almost randomly from 1 to 0 in some cases. The walkarround for that was saving the network twice. (time consuming ... because you have
to copy both versions in different forlders and then test them to see, if everything went well etc. etc.) So far so good ....

I don´t know if you´ve changed something during the last update, but this walkarround does´n´t work anymore. All nets, which were saved with an 1 tag before the update (elevated1, slope1 etc. ) are "jumping" always back to "0" when you save the net. Regardless how often you save it. The result is, that the savegame won´t find the nets anymore (you know that, I know ;) and basically everything that peoples have had build will be gone.

That so so damn frustrating ... especially when you spent hours (preapring new mesh + x testruns within the game) with the same result in every test.
It seems impossible to update old nets, that where published with the "1" tag.

Am I wrong ? Am I doing something wrong ? Is there a walkarround ?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the poor explanation !

The issue with it changing all the time was fixed, but it sounds like perhaps it now has some issues with networks that ended in anything else than 0. You can change it manually in ModTools (at least that was another way to fix it before, which hopefully still works).

Hi Avanya !

Thanks for your reply! :) And thanks for the tip, that it might be possible to change it manually... I wasn't aware of that. I clicked through the console like a berserk and tried everything... without any solution. :/ After every time I saved the network (which is an "1" ending network) it "fell" back to the "0" ending....
That was so frustrating ... I've read it in the last patch notes that the issue should be fixed....but it seems, that this fix destroyed a lot of old roads, which now can t receive an update anymore.... Ok, that's wrong, They still can be updated, but you'll destroy everything the people already build with them .... except the grd segments.

I tried to load an old game version through the steam "archive" or whatever that's called ... but that didn work either.
Posting it here was my last resort with the hope in mind, that maybe some def might pick it up by accident. ;)

I'll give it another try !

Thanks ! :)

I know BadPeanut had success with changing things before the fix, so hopefully it still works now.

So ground works fine - does it not get the number at the end or does it behave properly? I remember something about the fix not applying to elevated segments at first, but I can't remember if that was also fixed later, or if perhaps that's still an issue. Sounds like something isn't quite right at least!
