Italy, 1938: Ridiculous wars!

In my game as Italy, I made it to late '38 and was suddenly bombarded by DoW messages. First it was Nationalist Spain declaring war on Japan. The next day, Greece was declared on Switzerland (?!) and then Dominican Republic on Japan. After three or four days of DoWs, the situation was France and Japan on the same side of a war against Nat. Spain, China and a random handful of minor nations. The Greco-Swiss thing was independent of all of this.

The only thing I did differently from normal Italy games was that I tried to remain independant of Germany. Supported Austria in the Danubian Pact up until Anschluss (which I wasn't involved in), backed Austria in the state visits. I haven't really meddled anywhere to screw with any international relationships except Ethiopia (annexed).

I'm running with the latest CORE (no other mods) and this happened sometime in late 1938, after Germany gets the Sudetenland but before Italy invades Albania or any other major event. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated!

Sometimes the AI goes haywire. We've been able to tone it down considerably, but it still lurks here and there. The usual 'fix' is to reload your latest autosave, and most of the times it won't rear it's ugly head again...

And I must say the AI must be a really big fan of the Swiss... Usually they are in the thick of it when this happens.

Reloaded from some time in september and by the time November rolled around, those meddlesome Swiss had calmed down. Thanks.

It not only happens with Italy.......I was playing the Japs.

China was almost completely overrun and war in Europe already saw the fall of France: I claimed Indocina and from there I finally declared war on the allies and land in Malaysia...............

Suddenly: Russia delared war on France..........from taht moment on and from several days hundreds of countries declared war one another, creating a completely unhistorical plot: Usa was not with the allies and declared war on Russia........

Loading old saves didn't help........
