Good afternoon!

Avrolancaster has asked me to petition the Forum for people willing to form a "team" for continued production of the SUPER MARIO MOD later this year. TSF4 and Avrolancaster have been working hard on laying down the Map for the past year and that is coming close to fruition.

Let me present this to you in Avro's own words:
I'm going to be realistic. Total conversion mods take teams. Teams of more than three people.

My life has gotten mega-busy since I volunteered for this project, and I have put very little work into it in the last 9 months. I do not have the time to basically remake CK2 on my own; I never did. I'll commit right now to finishing up the map, programing the species traits that I posted earlier in the thread, implementing the provincial species system, and bringing the religions to a level of completion somewhere around alpha-ready.

Basically once I've done that, without a team, I'm out. At this point the mod will be 'playable' but not great quality. I don't know how to mod the graphics, nor do I really have a great desire to learn.

TSF4, Avrolancaster, and I each have sets of skills we can devote to the project.

I am the least skilled and most useless man on the team, limited to images, localization, and, the most useless, tossing ideas. Worse yet, I am unable to work with non-TGA files do to the limitations of the programs I have mastered and can make quality work out of. ArtCursors makes TGA files, PNG files, icons, animated GIF files, and cursors, but not much else. AC and Powerpoint both have layering while MS Paint has cropping and custom selection tools.

I've come a long way since I wrote this. I can write Events, Decisions, add provinces, add religions, and so on. I still can't use DDS files and all my tools are the same as I once had (Artcursors, Powerpoint, MS Paint, etc.), but I really have a large understanding of the art of Paradox coding.

So, to my knowledge, here is a sample of the men we need to aid us on this project.
  1. Coders. This is the big one. Talking about what religions and such can do is nice, but it's a whole different project to make those events and decisions a reality. I can't code my way out of a paper bag, and Avro and TSF4 aren't going to do my bidding just because this Mod is my idea. The Super Mario Mod needs men willing to take the time to turn my ideas and the ideas of other participants into reality. This, like GOT, Heretic Pride, Founder of the Republic, Crisis of the Confederation, and Mercenary Kings, will cover things as diverse as laws to councilmen to dungeon and imprisonment events (because what is a Mario Mod without kidnapping?). The Mario Mod will touch only on things that have been proven to be modifiable, but few have succeeded. We need brilliant minds to help make our dreams come true.
  2. Mentors. I have never attempted serious work on any project like a game Mod. I don't understand how CK2 graphics work, nor how I'd make it so that Goombas can wear every other character's crowns or add different scars and such like you'd expect face portraits to do. The Super Mario Mod needs patient men willing to walk complete Noobs at Modding through the arduous process of troubleshooting and repairing glitches. I can't code my way out of a paper bag, and Avrolanacaster has already said he does not wish to self-teach himself graphics.
  3. Troubleshooters. A Mod this complex will face scores of bugs and complications. With certainty, I can say my graphics attempts will fail. Crashes and the like will be rampant for months, even years after the Mod production. We need people with the knowledge and skill to debug the files and stare at lines of codes to spot an error. This is the least fun and one of the hardest positions, but we unfortunately are in need of testing.
We are willing to take any number of Mario enthusiasts longing to make this dream a reality.

Won't you step up to the plate?

You can use paint.net to edit .dds files, I do it all the time.

Also photoshop CS2 is a free download these days. What religions do you want/ ideas? I like the idea of this mod but I am too busy with my own to devote myself to it, do you need religions coded? I can code those for you if you want (I cant make icons though)

What map are you using or making?

The Maps are the job of TSF4 and Avrolancaster right now. Avro is working on the basics of the religion, but I'll see if I can contact you if there's a way you can help with the complex aspects of it.

I'm really sorry for not helping when I said I would, things got really busy for me unexpectedly. :/

Still, I am glad to see that the mod is having progress! Good luck! :)

From Original Thread - Map and Help Wanted
@AvroLancaster \ @tsf4

ATTENTION ALL SUBSCRIBERS.

Avrolancaster pulled through and recovered the entire Mod. All the history files, all the content, all the religions, all EVERYTHING are fully intact.

You can view the files by clicking this link.

Avrolancaster himself has announced that he will not work on the Mod again until CK2 is completely finished updating. The contents of this folder were actually launched during the "Old Gods" EP, and the last version worked with Charlemagne. The Map is fully drawn, but it still needs work to be launched in the game.
Anyone who wishes to help may do so my Branching the Mod's Github page (it is public) and add their own work.

If anyone wants to delve further in the Mod or join the development board, please message me.

I have got the mod to start, but map looks funky and I need help with that & the potential interface issue which crashes the game right before it would play.

Dejure work will happen, once I can get it to load/not look funky.

Having been wrong befored in participating in Mods, or having shot myself in the foot once, I have decided that I really want to focus on getting this Mod to launch. I'll set up de jure myself, but the first and most important duty is getting the Map to launch.

Map work is the hardest part. We have a fully developed Map, but the recquisite continents, etc etc. has not been made.

I can write de jure structures, but I am not capable of map work without being able to run the Map.

Anyone who wants to help should check out the Github page.

okay
thanks

The Mod chat room is still open and we have several branches going. One of them loads and stays loaded. I've advocated for merging them all and just releasing a Proof of Concept.
