The game is over 10 years old, and the next in the series is quite a long way in development.
It makes perfect sense that there is no news. And any update to this game would be a suprise at this point.

Last DLC is under 9 months old and the last major patch under 4 months old. There are tons of bugs. Plenty of reasons to expect updates.

While Project Caesar may be EU5, it may be so different that not everyone will migrate to it from EU4. For comparison, these charts shows that Civ V still has a steady playerbase, years after the release of Civ VI. There are also players on CKII and Vic2, despite both of them having successors.

Edit: date mixup, oops

I don't need details or a timeline, but it would be nice to get an official statement one way or the other that EU4 still has stuff in the works or is finished.

It seems there's not much QA activity in the bug forum either.

Abandoning a game is not a good way to sell new ones.
Depends on the state of it. They're clearly abandoning it soon or they have done already. That said, a confirmation post would be nice. Ideally, a capstone to mark the end of the life of such a successful title.

They obviously cant do that because it would confirm the game is dead and eu5 is about to be announced which would defeat the point of not officially announcing it.

If they haven't done anything its because they are not working on it. Its quite obvious why. Once they officially announce EU5 they will be able to disclose whether EU4 has been shelfed or what to expect whether a last patch or a hotfix or whatever.

But i think it is quite clear by now that nothing is going to be publicly said by the team and nothing is being released until eu5 is officially announced.

Hopefully they will announce it soon and we'll know more then.

But demanding it every month is not going to make it happen.

I am sure a final patch at least with bug fixes will happen, but it wont happen until eu5 is announced i dont think.

I can confirm this. Besides EU4 I’m one of those players that enjoys Victoria 2. I’m using GFM and TGC.

The bugs are really disappointing, because without rolling back some of the last patches the game is not in a good state since the "real" devs left for PC quite some time ago and left the ex-modders in charge as the new devs. On the evidence, the staff left in charge do not have the ability to fix the bugs.
