I've watched through some topics on this forum ( and on BG forum ) and I was surprised that some main points of Cold War are actually not gonna be in Supreme Ruler Cold War upcoming release !!! I can’t imagine Cold War game without :

1- Cold War is battle of international propaganda of ideologies. I found nothing about cultural / ideological features in SR-CW
2- Cold War is regional conflicts. I haven't found how is it possible in SR-CW to have regional conflicts without involving mega mess world war ( like it is right now in SR2020 ).

and of course:

3- Cold War is great battle of CIA vs KGB. So far I haven't found any information what kind of spy system will be integrated into the game.
4- Cold War is space race. All I found is that BG wants to integrate some kind of "magic space technologies" that will indicate that game has some kind of space race. Sounds like nonsense to me.

So, the only question I have is will SR-CW be changed much if you just rename it into – “Supreme Ruler – Medieval” and change unit names from T-72 on Mounted Rider or CVN Ticonderoga on Galley? I see no presents of Cold War sense in the game so far.

P.S. Hopefully my worries are pointless and great stuff of Cold War will present in the game.

Hi, you are the same MaxRiga from the civfanatics forum aren't you? Love your mods :) I agree with you, in particular point 2 which is what worries me the most. Espionage, propaganda and the space race are also too important to be left out.

4: I was very interested in how BattleGoat wants to include Space Race into SR:CW myself, and I recommend you this thread: http://www.bgforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=17361

What you heard about 'Magic space technologies' is just rubbish.
You need to research expensive technologies to unlock Space Race technologies and they are even more expensive. Then you will be able to start an expensive project like 'Launch first satellite' that will again cost some money and time.

Oh and btw you can also see some (outdated) pictures of the space race screen on page2 in the link I gave you.

I am way more worried about one other thing: game speed.

SR: 2020 runs painfully slowly, and I can't imagine myself bothering to go through the entire cold war period (40+ years) if the game still runs as pathetically slow as it does in SR: 2020 regardless of the actual game content.

Yes, I agree, this is extremely important to make changes in their core engine of the game concerning general game speed. Once I went to sleep and left my game for one night on and it passed about 1 and a half in game year only :))) So, my longest game was about 7 in game years so far.

But this topic is for different subject. Even after David interview was released I concern about what he's saying. Still no any proves/clear information been released about –

This to me is mega important. I love Supreme Ruler 2020, but because it is sooo slow I find myself getting bored and/or frustrated. Like you MaxRiga, I haven't made it past 6 - 7 years of gameplay. I really hope they speed it up, otherwise very few people will actually make it to the final chapters of the Cold war period and all of that designing and planning will be for very little reception. The time speed should be still available, giving the player a wide choice of speeds, but the very fast setting should be - very fast :)

regarding your point 2, it seems that regional wars have been included. take a look at the interview. you'll see north korea vs japan, south korea and the u.s.

Japan? Japan did not participate in the Korean war.

relax, this guy doen't know what he's talking about anyway

to bluepoo

sr20 doesn't have nations. It has very primitive engine with country A, B, C etc without any specifically identity. What's happening now is when country A is allies of country C and it's being attack by country B then they all go to war vs B. And so on until whole world either at war or all world in a peaceful allies. Sometimes it's total mess and even country A allied on Country B and C but country B at at war with country C. It's kinda - NATO is big alliance but all countries in NATO alliance are at war :)))

my point is - will sr20 engine be some kinda improve so if country A ( S.Korea ) is at war with country B ( N.Korea ) but B is allies with C ( USSR ) so country C will help country B without primitive attacking of country A how it works right now.
