I bought EU Rome, install it correctly, update to 1.3 and run. Loading is perfect, but as soon I try to play or run the tutorial i haven't a CTD but a complete shutdown of the computer:eek:. I tried several time to run the game, but always, after few minutes, I experienced a computer shutdown! Have you ever read about this? Somebody out there has some idea or even better, solution? Thank in advance for any hints you could give me.

You have have a hardware fault, or your machine may be overheating. But let's check the basic stuff first:

Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt here (first delete everything after the Sound Devices section so it will fit). Also post your Rome/settings.txt and Rome/logs/system.log files. Note that if you use Vista and have installed the game in the suggested folder c:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\, the active versions of these last two files will have been redirected by Vista to a non-system directory, like c:\users\[name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\. You may have to search your C: drive for them.

Probably it has been an overheating problem; some maintenance to fan and fan grid and now EU Rome runs without problem. Thanks anyway for your hints.

Hi
I bought Rome a few weeks ago, and I have exactly the same issue, was never able to play.
Everything loads, but when the game "really" starts -map appears-, I have a hard reboot in the following second...Never got further !
It is *NOT* an overheat problem, as the problem occurs instantly on a "cold" comp, and appears only with this game., and I've checked all sensors, they're ok.

DXDiag attached.

Well if yours is *NOT* an overheat problem then it's *NOT* "exactly the same issue", is it? I've never understood why people prefer to add "me too" posts than start their own thread where they can get undivided attention.

So please start a fresh thread with full problem description, dxdiag, settings.txt and system.log file. Thanks.

Ok sorry I added after reading the first post and not the last...
My fault, I make a new thread.
