... as the title says, and its alarming... i am planning to embark on a major reworking of the monarch, leaders and events to finally wrap up my AI project although it seems a concerning endeavour if no-one will be around to test/enjoy/criticise it... :/

... i am probably being jumpy after a few days of returning from a nearly two year hiatus... but still.

Had you settled for a one-year hiatus you would still have found plenty of gamers. (Or at least the crowd manning the last bastion)

But alas, time seems to have run away.. but making frequent posts might lure one or two back to see what is happening. And it shouldn't be impossible to guilt me into trying it out  but in the end all modding is primarily done for the gratification of ones ego and showing it to others is a secondary profit (IMHO, YMMV)

Well... i have some pretty extensive ideas about how to improve the game quite a bit and bring everything into its proper prospective. There is actually quite a hidden 'scriptable' engine hiding in the background that has been only barely tapped.

It seems unusual, though understandable, that sweden has lots of events whereas Portugal (literally) has none whatsoever. The leaders are also very unbalanced. In addition to my final AI release (r8 completed) i plan to introduce the first series of the monarch, leader and event improvement project.

I wont be pushing too hard, and yes it will be primarily for me, but then again so was the Enhanced IGC_AI originally... ;)

Sounds like you are going to do some great work there Languish, and something tells me you got a lot of extra time on your hands though, but that is just great :D
I hope you will go ahead with those projects because they seem very interesting…

And as Yoghurt said we are still around lurking and watching, it is just not so much lurking and reading and even less posting these days… as times go by things change…

a bit too late maybe ?

I do see this forum is not too busy. Im a Victoria player who has been considering getting EUII for a little while now. I just assumed there is no reason to bother with EUI. Am I wrong? Is there any thing special about EU I what would make it worth picking up?

Nope your not wrong :)

EUII has all that EUI has + a lot lot lot more. :)

The only thing that EU1 has that EU2 doesn't manage nicely is an AI that manages to keep reasonably historical using only the rules available within the game.

But in EU2 you can spoon-feed the AI by easily scriptable events, and there are some mods that do just this to help Spain take out the South Americans etc.

EU1 is simpler as well, as in 'easier to play', you have less things to worry about and more leeway in doing what you want to do, but unless you can get EU1 really cheap, or in a package deal with another Paradox Game I wouldn't bother, especially since backwards compability with Windows is a dodgy issue.

Yep he IS wrong - EU1 is not heavy event-driven as EU2 is which is a big plus imo, AI is better in EU1 too. Overall i (and some other people) liked EU1 more than 2.
Otoh - EU1 is dead and there are many interesting projects and mods in EU2 (like new maps!).

One word:

MULTIPLAYER :D

EUI lacks many important nations.

Which, as some have pointed out, just makes it easier in 2 to expand without needing to colonize.
