Because CK looks to be at an early stage of development, maybe it's worth it. I can dream.

Of course we don't know anything about the game yet so it's a stab in the dark. But it can't do any harm, right?

I agree. It's not that much different in detail from the current map.
If past experience is any guide, the map is under construction right now (it tends to be what gets done first), so you may not be wasting your efforts!

I would be surprised if the map has a lot of new provinces in it. What do other people think?

i really like that map
and as CKII is only europe, that much detail does not compare to HOI3 and you have ELY on that Map and so i support this map entirely as its exactly what the game needs is the isle of Ely. maybe even a new terrian type of Fen for it and holland and stuff

more divisions could even be better but probably unworkable and mean on the rest of europe

whats the only inbetween bedford and oxford that has no name?

Wouldn't it be true that adding more provinces would also increase the number of counts in the game? That equals more research into obscure/dubious/fraudulent princely lines.

Or maybe this time not every province will demand its own princeling.

CK [maybe the improvement project] had courtiers who are noted in the characters behind #'s as being counts of a place within that county.
There are lots more land-holders than CK has land to hold
and we need more provinces as who among us can say he hasnt want to play as Herewald the Wake! and that was hard to do without alot of modding in CK as he was but a courtier in Lincolns

Buckingham, excuse me.

Wales could be divided thusly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historic_counties_of_Wales but with Denbigh about halved NW / SE, with the southern part, plus Flint's exclave, becoming Powys Maelor.

The advantage of the traditional counties here is they reflect the pre-feudal units also.

Flint -> Tegeingl
Denbigh -> Rhos
Caernarvon -> Arfon
Anglesey -> Mon
Montgomery -> Powys
Merioneth -> Meirionydd
Cardigan -> Ceredigion
Pembroke -> Dyfed
Carmarthen -> Ystrad Tywi
Glamorgan -> Glywysing
Monmouth -> Gwent
Brecknock -> Brycheiniog
Radnor -> Rhwng Gwy a Hafren (if it fits)
Montgomery -> Powys

There were certain parts of the map I felt could be inproved. The biggest one was Wales. It was somthing like 4 or 5 provinces.

Another part of the map I felt was lacking was North Africa. The provinces were very large and it made conquering the kingdoms as easy as taking out four very poor provinces.

Once more with feeling:

EDIT: Stirling to border Argyll

Though this increases Britain's province total by a significant margin, this isn't just me being parochial:

- Scotland and above all Wales need strategic depth to face the savage Anglo-Norman beast; playing a Welsh dynasty in CK1 felt like defending the Stalingrad pocket from day one

- the provinces in that game appeared fairly uniform in size at first sight, but were not so if you applied them to an actual map - Westmorland and York were one province each, frx

- We are given to understand the sequel will not feature playable Muslims, so let's finally jettison the eastern map section and plough those tags back into the feudal European heartland.

Everything is always about the damn British Isles in CK map threads or mods.

I vote the whole island chain is sunk beneath the waves for CK2.

You're forgetting Poland.

I just want all the number of CK1 provinces, but tenfold.
Is that so much to ask?

Poland cannot into ocean.. :(

Nah, Poland can be sunk and merged with the Baltic Sea, just like Bill Gates imagined it.
