For the first time in CK my king has been elected papal controller. Now I wonder: What can I do with all this power? Muahahhahahaaah *caugh*...errm sorry. While restraining my power rush I wonder what I should most definitely NOT do?

I have a vassal who's excomunnicated. Can I revoke that? What potential problems are there?

What happens if I excommunicate someone? The duchess of Toscana has long been an arch enemy of my king so it'd be nice to give her some payback :D

I halfway found out myself. I'm limited by the prestige of the pope. I need A LOT of prestige to excommunicate one of the leaders I don't like. The pope only has 71 prestige. So it's not possible unfortunately. It seems I don't have all that power I hoped for :(

Revoking an excomunnication works the same way I guess? No text pops up when I try though so I can't tell for sure?

Actually you can revoke excommunication at any time as Papal controller, regardless of the Pope's prestige.

Also, the target's piety is a significant factor in the cost of excommunication. Rulers with zero or negative piety cost almost nothing to excommunicate.

If you have DV, you can only revoke excommunication since the 2.1beta patch. There was some bug which didn't allow to revoke.

Hmm maybe I have the bug then? I play without patch since I thought it wasn't needed when I have the complete package with CK & DV in one?

I can select revoke excommunication, but I can't actually do it? Nothing happens when I click. Also the "Back" function don't work.

Sorry for taking this thread slightly off topic, but now I have a new question regarding the patch.

For safety precautions I'd like to copy my savegames into a separate folder BEFORE installing the patch I just downloaded. Where do I find the folder with saves? I have found one, but it doesn't contain ALL my saves? I still play a game which I named Germany, but I don't see that in the folder? My previous game named England I do see though?

You can find your save-games in

C:\....\Paradox Entertainment\Crusader Kings\scenarios\save games

Thanks that's exactly where I'm looking. But I only have one called England.eug? Can it be that all my saves are simply assembled under one name which happens to be the top one? Anyway I'll make a copy and try with the patch.

No that can't happen

Do you have Vista or Windows 7 ? If yes, then where did you install the game ?

Update: Just installed patch and not only do my saves still work now I can also see them unlike before where only the one named England showed up. Nice!

Also the whole Papal Controller thing now works the way it's supposed to! I can now revoke excommunication and also the "Back" button works now!

VERY GOOD

Thanks for the help :)
