hey guys,
When i play Japan i always transport all the garrisons to china and ship those enormous depots back home for use and trade.
Japan has quite a bit of stockpiled supplies on those islands, I only hold the VP islands and not for years...
You think this is gamey or does everyone do this?
For army i use plain INF and MIL and a few cavalry groups i make a bunch of MAR once the doctrines lower the cost but it comes a little late. MTN are fantastic but the MP is a little high for me. Almost no BDE research a few AC and id love to use ENG but its hard to justify.
I tend to favor the supply conservation generals and ministers.
In the air I build/research no CAS or FTR (i know the range)
I keep the junk navy and only research DD and CV.
any holes ?

I use inf and a few cav as Japan almost never build tanks. After China dies in 38 or so I build a navy or IC and upgrade army in early 41 or so usually skipping inf 39 and upgrade inf 36 to inf 41.

I do it too - it would be stupid not to do so.

The US might want to capture a 'worthless' island and build air/naval base there to attack me, but not with this AI.

AFAIK a strategic mistake of the japs was that they tried to hold on every tiny pacific island, and also used their submarines to supply them.

The marines surpassed many of those, some they left unconquered well into the 60's!!

I also build some BBs, I think it's better to have those yank vessels sunk than driven away.
