Japan unable to attack US

Due to the restrictions on range for transports Japan can not attack Pearl Harbor and by editing/cheating you do take pearl harbor it is again not possible to reach US mainland unless you edit or cheat. Why? Was this intentional?

Despite the complaint I still enjoy the MOD. Thanks

Model 1 TPs are supposed to reach Pearl Harbor.

Did you try from the Marshall Islands, Eniwetok and 1 other have naval bases. 1 of them should reach.

Or else you attack Midway and try from there on.

A model 1 has a range of 1 so that won't work.

Midway does not have a naval base.

Wake does but it is exactly 2001 miles away so I can't attack it.

I tried all bases from the Marshall Islands and they were to far.

In the end I edited to give midway a base. Took midway then took Pearl.

Next I couldn't reach the West coast of US so I edited to put san fran under my control and was able to transport units there.

It shouldn't work out this way. I guess I could have tried moving up through Alaska that is the only way I can see it working.

In my recent game, I started building a navy base early in the war and placed it on midway which then let me take the Hawaiian islands. I then build a 2nd naval base on the big Island of Hawaii which let me reach San Diego.

That process is much slower than it should be in my opinion. I don't think it is realistic to make Japan do this. Transports could travel longer than the distances given.

Look, taking Wake and Midway early in the war (December 41- January 42) and building a naval base there (it should be ready by april-may 1942), puts you in position to attack Hawaii in june 1942. I don't see how this could be unrealistic, game-wise speaking- the Japanese attacked Midway (not Hawaii!) only in June 1942 and they couldn't transport more than an infantry regiment as an invasion force. What is totally unrealistic -with respect to RL - is that Japan can actually invade Hawaii and the US. The naval range in the game is just one of the means to put some (easy to exceed) limits in the players way. Or you want to be to Washington by the end of 1942?

Of course, they could travel from Tokyo to Washington, without refuelling , but with what food and water for the troops they transport? At what speed?
